AC Milan Edge Napoli 1-0 in Champions League Quarter-Final 1

Luciano Spalletti confirmed that Napoli top scorer Victor Osimhen will be completely fit for their Champions League quarter-final clash against AC Milan next week at Maradona. That makes an enormous difference to Italian champions Napoli who may face a difficult test from Milan at their Maradona base.

Napoli could find themselves in difficulty if they fail to secure a positive result, with Zambo Anguissa receiving his second yellow card of the game and Min-jae Kim having picked up a booking that will force him out for leg two.

AC Milan vs Napoli

Milan defeated Napoli 1-0 at San Siro to open up their Champions League quarter-final campaign. Ismael Bennacer scored just before half time to ensure an easy victory and ensure a comfortable result.

At first, the hosts started well and had several half chances. Unfortunately for them though, Napoli defended well and were unable to break through their defence; nonetheless they took the lead five minutes before half time when Brahim Diaz set up Bennacer who shot home for them.

Napoli had their opportunities and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia had his shot blocked by Krunic in the opening minutes, while Simon Kjaer's header hit the crossbar.

Napoli may be relieved to have emerged unscathed from this match without suffering further injuries to their already beleaguered attack, yet their performance was far from impressive. Victor Osimhen will certainly have made the difference for their opponents but will no longer lead their scorer chart.

AC Milan vs Roma

AC Milan and Roma put on an entertaining display of calcio, shifting tactics constantly in an effort to gain advantage. Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened scoring from a free-kick drive before Franck Kessie doubled Milan's advantage after halftime.

Second half was more subdued than its counterpart; nonetheless, both teams still had plenty of chances to score. Roma winger Brahim Diaz gave his side their first real chance shortly before half time when his powerful shot from distance forced Rui Patricio into an early save with its forceful strike.

Rossoneri eventually managed to find their breakthrough in the 53rd minute after Pau Lopez miscued and created an opportunity for Ante Rebic to turn and shoot from just inside the box - which eventually resulted in their winning goal from inside it.

Spalletti expressed confidence that Osimhen would return for the second leg, scheduled to take place at Napoli on April 18th. "He has undergone intensive training over the last two months and it is likely he will be available," stated the Italian coach.

AC Milan vs Atalanta

After an inconsistent run of form, AC Milan look to make their comeback on Sunday as they face Atalanta in Serie A. While currently level with Roma for third place and ahead of fifth-place Lazio by two points respectively, they cannot settle for anything less than victory in this pivotal matchup.

Atalanta are still fighting to secure a spot in the Champions League and could gain back entry if they win this match against Milan. They suffered their first defeat last weekend against Lecce 2-1; coach Gian Piero Gasperini believes facing Milan provides his team with extra motivation.

Atalanta's loss to Lecce has dropped them into sixth place on 41 points, just three behind Milan. They lost to Sassuolo earlier in the season by an identical margin but are a powerful side and will look to turn things around against Italy's champions.

AC Milan vs Lazio

Lazio opened the scoring through Hernanes in the 25th minute, but AC Milan were determined not to let their opponents dictate the terms. Both Nigel De Jong and Stephan El Shaarawy scored goals to bring AC Milan back into contention.

Milan suffered its third consecutive defeat and now find themselves three points adrift of fourth-placed Roma and only one point ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool with one game in hand - clearly an unfortunate situation which highlights some key weaknesses within Stefano Pioli's squad.

At any point in any game, things can go awry quickly and in this instance Milan's defense proved especially vulnerable. A single pass can open it up and allow opposing teams to break through easily.
