DAYARA BUGYAL TREK - THE GREEN QUEEN

It is highly unlikely that one doesn’t like Hindi movies. And if one has seen those typical love stories of the 90s, wherein Switzerland was chosen as an outdoor location, one must have also seen lush pastures, with the backdrop of mountains.  There are numerous such hilly meadows one can visit in our very own India. All through the mountainous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh, one would see such sites. The reason that these are not picturized is that they are mostly can be reachable only on foot, which makes transporting the super-heavy filming types of equipment really difficult. Hence, they remain divine in the modern world, and the traditional way of life still goes on there. Talking about beauty, no meadow could ever beat the charm of Dayara Bugyal trek

The word, ‘bugyal’ comes from a local language, some say it means, a high-altitude meadow, and others, nature’s own garden. The reason is that they are covered with bright green grass all through summer. Speaking about its geographical setting, bugyals or alpine meadows or alpine grasslands are located between 10000 feet and 13000 feet above sea level.

Dayara Bugyal itself has an elevation of around 10000 feet, and hence it is neither too low nor too high. This is a vast stretch of almost flat land of about 28 sq km in area, with only gentle slopes, covered with grass. This is the place on the hike for one to run around without the risk of getting hurt. One will probably not feel tired even after exertion as the clean, unpolluted air will stoke up the lungs like dry coal does to a steam locomotive.

It is suggested to gather a bunch of friends to come up here and start playing cricket! Even grounds like those in other areas such as Dharamsala, Cape Town or Christchurch or would not match up to those grounds in Dayara Bugyal, even though it is not ground, but in terms of the experience, one is getting while playing the game in such calm surroundings. A yoga person, who can come here thus should definitely wake up early, sit on the grass and start with the meditation and asanas right here.

The reason one won’t see any trees here or very few trees here is that the meadow is located above the tree line, which ends at around 10000 feet above sea level. The thin soil layer and high gradient of those slopes don’t allow trees to grow.

During the Dayara Bugyal trek, one will see loads of red or pink-colored rhododendrons. When feeling tired, just pluck a bunch of them, wash them with water, and just eat them up. Yes, one can eat the flowers just like that. Their sweet juice will recharge one instantly.

Considering all this, thus it might not be wrong to tell that the Dayara Bugyal is the physical embodiment of divinity.

One may be able to see dogs that are basking in the sun, cattle that are grazing happily; langurs that are hopping and jumping all around; and crows that are flapping their wings on the trek and in the meadow. One may even get to see Himalayan brown bears that are hibernating through the winter season. One may also get a chance to witness  Tibetan and Himalayan wolves on the meadows apart from bears. Always, always have cameras in your hand because one will have to take photos of wild animals, being wild.

Dayara Bugyal trek is popular for its meadows, trekking, hiking, Himalayan views, camping, and so on among tourists. This is a recommended place for families, corporates, foreigners, and all. This place is surely going to gift its visitors with abundant memories that they can carry for a lifetime.

Winter is clearly the most suitable time to visit Dayara Bugyal Trek. Heavy snowfall is received during the month of December there. However, it gets cumbersome to get a trekking experience towards the end of the months of January and February because of the huge gathering of snow. So, December’s last week to January’s third week is a good time to indulge in trekking activities in Dayara Bugyal Trek. The minimum temperature during this time is 5 degree Celsius there and the highest temperature could reach a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius.

The Dayara Bugyal trail is a popular winter trail in the Himalayas that offers majestic views of the snow-capped mountain peaks. This is a moderate to challenging trek and takes us through some of the eye-pleasing scenery in the world. For those who are looking for an adventure, then this is the perfect one.
