Endeavour Group is undergoing significant leadership changes as part of its ongoing transformation strategy, positioning itself for a new chapter following its demerger from Woolworths Group in 2021. The appointment of Harinder Saluja as the new Chief Transformation Officer marks a pivotal step in the company’s journey to streamline its operations and enhance its technological capabilities. Saluja will be primarily responsible for spearheading the ‘One Endeavour’ initiative, which aims to separate the company from Woolworths’ IT systems and simplify the technology estate that Endeavour utilizes moving forward.

This restructuring involves a clear distinction between strategic and transformational roles within the organization. Previously, Endeavour Group operated under a combined Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer role, held by Ilana Stringer, who will transition out of the company in February 2025. This move emphasizes Endeavour’s commitment to both strategic planning and transformation, allowing for more focused leadership in each area. The search for a new Chief Strategy Officer is underway, which will complete the leadership realignment.

Saluja brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Executive Director of the Process and Technology Harmonisation (PaTH) program at the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. His expertise in managing large-scale ERP systems consolidation will be invaluable as Endeavour navigates its technological transition. The ‘One Endeavour’ program is critical for ensuring that the company can operate independently from its former parent company while modernizing its technology infrastructure to better meet the needs of its customers.

In addition to Saluja’s appointment, the organization also announced the departure of Chief Marketing Officer Jo Rose, who has been instrumental in shaping Endeavour’s marketing strategy over the past three years. Rose played a key role in establishing a unified customer strategy post-demerger, but she has decided to relocate to the UK to be closer to family. She will remain in her role until the second quarter of the next calendar year, ensuring a smooth transition during this period.

Furthermore, Paul Carew has been appointed as the Managing Director of ALH Hotels, effective in the new year. Carew joins Endeavour from Tabcorp, where he served as Chief Operating Officer for over two years. His leadership will be crucial as Endeavour continues to develop its portfolio in the hospitality sector.

These leadership changes underscore Endeavour Group’s dedication to refining its operational structure and improving its market presence as it navigates the challenges of independence in a competitive landscape. By separating the roles of Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Transformation Officer, Endeavour is signaling a strategic intent to enhance both its long-term vision and immediate operational effectiveness.

The emphasis on transformation, particularly through initiatives like ‘One Endeavour,’ positions the company to adapt more swiftly to market demands and technological advancements. This focus not only aims to streamline processes but also to foster innovation and responsiveness, crucial elements for success in today’s fast-paced business environment.

As Endeavour continues to evolve, these leadership appointments and changes reflect its proactive stance in identifying and seizing new opportunities. With a commitment to delivering value to customers through improved services and a robust operational framework, Endeavour Group is strategically positioned to thrive in the evolving marketplace, reinforcing its status as a key player in the industry.
