Gold Holographic Motorcycle Vinyl Completely Changed My Bike’s Appearance

Author:

When I first laid eyes on gold holographic vinyl wrapped around a motorcycle, I instantly fell in love.

I’ve used dozens of different kinds of motorcycle vinyl over the years.

Chrome finishes.

Matte colors.

Metallic textures.

Gloss black wraps.

But nothing caught the eye quite like gold holographic motorcycle vinyl.

The first time I saw gold holographic motorcycle vinyl was actually on a custom sport bike that I thought was painted.

When the sun hit the surface at just the right angle, I thought I was looking at solid gold.

As light reflected off the bike, the vinyl transformed from a deep gold color to rainbow hues and even glittered like chrome.

I knew that as soon as I saw it, I had to wrap something with gold holographic motorcycle vinyl.

What surprised me most is just how versatile gold holographic vinyl really is.

It’s showy without being tacky. Edgy without crossing the line.

Gold holographic motorcycle vinyl changes an entire bike’s appearance when applied correctly.

What’s Gold Holographic Motorcycle Vinyl?

Gold holographic motorcycle vinyl isn’t your average metallic gold color vinyl wrap.

A holographic vinyl wrap is a chrome-style reflective surface with rainbow color shifting properties.

As light hits holographic vinyl, the color changes based on several factors.

Most gold holographic motorcycle vinyl films are made using chrome reflective material combined with holographic film tech.

The result is a mirror like shine that shifts from gold to every color of the rainbow as your bike moves.

Why Do So Many Riders Love Gold Holographic Motorcycle Vinyl?

I had never wrapped anything with gold holographic vinyl before my motorcycle.

So when I saw how much it cost for a professional installer to drop-ship me a small amount of the stuff, I was skeptical.

But after wrapping my bike myself, I finally understood why so many custom builders were offering gold holographic vinyl wraps to their clients.

Have you ever wondered how professionals install motorcycle vinyl? Check out our ultimate guide!

It stands out.

I don’t care how fancy of a paint job your bike has. When you pull up next to a motorcycle with gold holographic vinyl, everyone is going to see your bike first.

Here are some other reasons I love gold holographic motorcycle vinyl.

  • Color shifting appearances
  • Mirror like shine
  • Shows off your bike like a custom paint job
  • Inexpensive compared to repainting
  • Completely removable with no permanent changes to your bike
  • Can be used on full wraps or for small accents

You don’t even need to wrap your entire motorcycle to use it. Trust me.

Small accents make a huge difference. I used gold holographic vinyl on my tank caps and it was enough to wow everyone.

Where Should I Put Gold Holographic Motorcycle Vinyl?

Another thing I quickly learned when playing around with gold holographic vinyl is that it doesn’t look good everywhere.

In fact, if you use too much of it, it will look absolutely tacky.

But when used in the right spots, holographic gold vinyl looks amazing on a motorcycle.

  • Fuel Tanks

Hands down the number one place to put gold holographic vinyl on a motorcycle.

It’s simply the most eye catching when sunlight hits it just right.

  • Fairings

Gold holographic vinyl looks extremely aggressive on sport bike fairings.

The angular lines reflect so much light that it will literally blind you.

  • Wheels

Putting gold holographic vinyl on your motorcycle wheels is another great idea.

You’ll see every color shine through while you ride.

Trust me, it looks insane.

  • Helmets

I’m not kidding when I say matching helmets are big right now.

Throwing on a gold holographic helmet to match your bike will give you a clean custom look that everyone will notice.

  • Trim/ Graphics

Just because you decide to use gold holographic vinyl doesn’t mean you need to wrap your entire motorcycle.

A lot of bikers choose to use gold holographic vinyl for:

  • Racing stripes
  • Logos
  • Decals
  • Accent panels
  • Side graphics

Sometimes using less holographic vinyl makes a bigger impact.

My Experience Wrapping With Gold Holographic Vinyl

Let’s just get this out of the way: Holographic vinyl isn’t easy to wrap .

I’ve wrapped motorcycles for years, but holy smokes this stuff gave me a hard time.

Due to the chrome nature of holographic vinyl. Any little mistake you make is going to be amplified.

Fingerprints show up. Dust shows up.

You name it, it’ll show up on holographic chrome film.

Paint Free Motorcycle Wrap Kits!

Here’s what I learned after wrestling with gold holographic motorcycle vinyl.

  1. Wash your surfaces more than once.
  2. Use a soft squeegee at all times.
  3. Do not over stretch your corners.
  4. Be very careful with your heat application.
  5. Go slow around detailed curves and bends.
  6. Motorcycles are hard enough to wrap as it is.

Trying to install holographic chrome vinyl doesn’t make the job any easier.

But I have to give it to gold holographic vinyl. The finished product looks dang good.

Cheap vs. Premium Quality Gold Holographic Vinyl

I learned this lesson the hard way.

I bought some cheap holographic vinyl online that “wasn’t much different than the real stuff.”

Um, nope.

It looked cheap as soon as I got it off the roll.

A few weeks after wrapping my entire motorcycle tank…..

Edges began to peel up.

Shine faded.

Scratches everywhere.

You name it.

Cheap holographic vinyl folds like paper and doesn’t apply as smooth as quality material.

Premium holographic vinyl:

Has better stretch

Applies easier

Is more resistant to scratching

Color lasts longer

Has better adhesive

If you’re going to take the time to wrap a motorcycle, buy the good stuff.

Cheap materials will just make you upset.

Is Gold Holographic Motorcycle Vinyl Worth Wrapping?

Yes! Without question.

If you want a bike that pops more than all of the other rides on the road combined, you need gold holographic motorcycle vinyl.

Paint can give you similar effects, but hiring someone to custom paint your bike holographic colors will cost you an arm and a leg.

Unlike paint, vinyl wraps can be removed later if you change your mind.

Wrap Your Motorcycle At Home!

You can also use gold holographic vinyl to protect your original paint job.

There are so many different ways to use motorcycle vinyl these days.

That’s why every custom motorcycle shop and bike rider is going to vinyl these days.

My Final Thoughts On Gold Holographic Motorcycle Vinyl

If you want a shine to your motorcycle wrap that no other material can beat, use gold holographic vinyl.

The reflective shine paired with holographic color shifting properties are impossible to replicate with traditional paint jobs.

No matter if you’re wrapping a sport bike or cruiser, helmet or fairings.
