Semble Secures $15 Million in Series B Funding for Healthtech Software Development

business .

Semble, a healthtech software-as-a-service (SaaS) company based in the UK, has successfully raised $15 million in a Series B funding round led by Mercia Ventures. This funding round also saw participation from Octopus Ventures, Smedvig Ventures, and Triple Point, bringing the total amount raised by the company to $27 million. The new capital will enable Semble to consolidate its position in the UK healthcare market and facilitate its recent expansion into France, where it officially launched earlier this month.

The financial backing will allow Semble to enhance its automation and integration capabilities, which are crucial for meeting the varying needs of both small and large healthcare operators. This focus on improving operational efficiency is particularly relevant given that doctors in England reportedly lose a staggering 13.5 million working hours annually due to inadequate IT systems.

Founded by seasoned entrepreneurs Christoph Lippuner and Mikael Landau, Semble was born out of the founders' personal experiences and frustrations with the healthcare sector's inefficiencies. After successfully exiting their previous startup, they recognized the urgent need for solutions that would alleviate the administrative burden on medical professionals. They believe that fostering a more connected healthcare ecosystem can significantly enhance patient outcomes.

Semble's platform allows healthcare providers to automate routine tasks while ensuring secure data exchange. By integrating with third-party systems such as hospitals, laboratories, and pharmacies, Semble streamlines workflows and enhances communication within the healthcare ecosystem. This capability not only improves operational efficiency but also prioritizes patient care, enabling healthcare professionals to focus more on their patients rather than on outdated systems.

Commenting on the recent funding, Christoph Lippuner, CEO of Semble, emphasized the company's mission: “Amplifying the impact of healthcare professionals is central to our mission. For too long, they have worked with outdated systems that take them away from what matters most – the patient. With this latest funding, we are looking to bring Semble to professionals across the UK and France, empowering them to spend more time on patient care. We will continue to invest heavily in workflow automation and integrations, positioning Semble at the forefront of AI-driven solutions, and ultimately creating a more connected healthcare ecosystem.”

Alex Gwyther from Mercia Ventures also highlighted the critical need for innovation in the healthcare market, stating, “The healthcare market is experiencing significant growth, but the industry’s continued reliance on legacy systems poses a real threat to its future. Semble is pioneering an all-in-one clinical system that enables healthcare businesses to automate many aspects of their practice. This investment will help Semble accelerate product development and expand its presence in the UK and France, empowering healthcare organizations to deliver on their digital transformation and transform their patients' experience.”

With this latest round of funding, Semble aims to drive product development and enhance its offerings in a market that is increasingly demanding technological advancements. Currently, the company boasts a team of around 80 employees, with more than half dedicated to product development, reflecting its commitment to innovation and improvement in healthcare services. As Semble continues to grow, it is well-positioned to address the pressing challenges facing healthcare providers today and to seize opportunities within this rapidly evolving sector.
