SteerAI by ATRC Aims to Revolutionize Industrial Vehicles with Autonomous Technology
The Advanced Technology Research Council’s (ATRC) commercialisation arm, VentureOne, has introduced SteerAI, a cutting-edge mobility system powered by artificial intelligence (AI) designed to transform standard industrial vehicles into autonomous machines. Initially catering to the logistics and defense sectors, SteerAI offers a hardware kit, a software stack, and a fleet management system that enables autonomous ground vehicles to undertake complex missions with exceptional precision and efficiency. The system is designed to optimize time and resources, while also ensuring the safety of human workforces by reducing their exposure to hazardous environments.
Developed by experts from the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), the applied research arm of ATRC, SteerAI exemplifies the UAE’s ongoing commitment to innovation in autonomous technology. H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Adviser to the UAE President and Secretary General of ATRC, emphasized that the launch of SteerAI marks a significant step in the UAE’s efforts to lead the world in autonomous solutions. He highlighted ATRC’s mission to continuously push the boundaries of technological innovation, turning groundbreaking research into practical, real-world applications that deliver measurable impact.
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, added that SteerAI goes beyond creating a simple autonomous vehicle—it is the “brain” of the vehicle, powered by advanced navigation algorithms and state-of-the-art sensors. This integrated system is modular, allowing it to be implemented on any vehicle, which has the potential to revolutionize how industries approach mobility. Autonomous vehicles powered by SteerAI will be able to navigate with precision between points, minimizing downtime, and responding rapidly to hazards. The system is built to handle challenging environmental conditions and even navigate unmapped areas.
The software stack at the heart of SteerAI not only enables fully autonomous operation but also supports remote fleet management. This allows users to plan missions, monitor vehicle performance, and analyze data to ensure optimal deployment. By utilizing data-driven insights, organizations can streamline operations and enhance the efficiency of their fleets.
Reda Nidhakou, Acting CEO of VentureOne, underscored the transformative impact of SteerAI, especially in sectors where operational needs are complex and costly, such as logistics and defense. The system’s ability to improve operational efficiency and precision while safeguarding workers is a significant advancement. VentureOne’s mission is to leverage innovative technologies like SteerAI to help organizations optimize their operations and reduce risks, particularly in high-stakes environments.
SteerAI marks the second significant venture launched by VentureOne, following the introduction of AI71 in November 2023. AI71 leverages TII’s Falcon generative AI models to deliver custom business solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of various industries. With the launch of SteerAI, VentureOne further strengthens its leadership in AI-driven innovation, offering solutions that are reshaping the landscape of industrial mobility and operational efficiency. By integrating cutting-edge AI technologies with autonomous systems, SteerAI is setting a new standard in how industries approach automation, enhancing not only the precision and effectiveness of their operations but also ensuring the safety and well-being of their workforce. This positions VentureOne as a key player in advancing AI solutions that drive significant operational transformations across sectors like logistics, defense, and beyond.
