If you are going grocery shopping for the first time, you are more likely to get confused at the store. Online grocery shopping can also take time if you do not have a grocery list on hand. When you move out or set up a new kitchen in your home, you must shop for every kitchen and pantry essential at once. This process can be long, and you might get stuck in between. But a good grocery list can help you find your essentials quickly and save a lot of time. Here is a simple and helpful grocery list for an absolute beginner.  

Breakfast foods  

You can buy cereals for breakfast if you like them. There are whole-grain cereals and multi-grain cereals available at online grocery stores. Shop oatmeal that is rich in fiber and low in sugar. Add some dried fruits, berries, etc. to sweeten your breakfast. Also, add eggs and milk to your breakfast list if you want alternatives other than cereal.  

Dairy and Eggs  

You can add milk, cheese, butter, tofu, cheese snacks, and eggs to this list. When you are buying milk from grocery stores near you, choose healthier options of low-fat milk. Those who are intolerant of cow’s milk can go for alternatives such as cashew milk or soy milk. Try to buy cheeses that have a strong flavor such as Parmesan cheese. If you are using strong-flavored cheese, you do not have to use it in huge quantities. If you are a yogurt lover, try to buy yogurts that are not pre-sweetened. You can add your favorite fresh fruit to the yogurt to sweeten it in a healthy way.  

Meat and Fish  

Those who are vegan can skip this part. If you are a non-vegetarian, you cannot skip meat and fish from your diet. Chicken, beef, turkey, and seafood can be on your online grocery list. When buying red meat, you should check it carefully and select the ones with the leanest cut. For those who prefer less fat in their meat, ground turkey and chicken will be better choices than beef.  

Rice or Pasta  

Asian grocery stores will have various types of rice available with brown rice being the favorite. If you are not a rice lover, you can buy whole-grain pasta.  

Oils and Sauces  

You cannot skip oils and sauces from your kitchen. Make sure to include all the essential cooking oils, salad dressing, and sauces in your online grocery list. Tomato sauce, Barbecue sauce, Salsa, Mustard, Red-wine vinegar, olive oil, and Hot pepper sauce are some of the items that should be on your list. Make sure to check the content of the sauces before buying. Look for sauces that contain less sugar and sodium.  

Fresh fruits and vegetables  

Buy fresh fruits and vegetables of different colors. Thus, you can include different nutrients and vitamins in your diet. If you do not have time to prepare the vegetables, go for freshly chopped fruits and vegetables at online grocery stores.
