Upgrade QuickBooks Company Files

Once the user has successfully upgraded, they need to upgrade their company files too, so that they can seamlessly work in the most upgrade recent version of QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus & Enterprise. Company files only need to be upgraded when a user upgrades QuickBooks Desktop to a newer version. They do not need to upgrade their company file if they switch to a different edition from the one that they were previously using.

Any user who wishes to upgrade their company files can do so by following these steps

•  First, the user needs to open the specific new version that they have.
•  If the company file is not open, the user can simply navigate to the ‘File’ option in the menu bar and either select ‘Open or Restore an existing QuickBooks Company’.
• Following that, they can select ‘Open a company file’ and hit the ‘Next’ button.
• Any backup company files that might have been created by the user will be with the file extension ‘.qbb’. If they have such a file, they need to select ‘Restore a backup QuickBooks company’.
• If they have a company file (the extension of this file will be ‘.qwb’), they can simply select ‘Open Company File’.
• Then the user can click the ‘Local Backup’ option. A window will open, and the user will have to browse their workstation for where they stored the file.
• When they have found the file, they can click on the file and select the ‘Open’ button that is located at the bottom of the window.
• Once the company has been selected, the user will then need to sign in as the Administrator user.
• The user then needs to select the ‘Update Now button at the bottom of the screen to start the upgrade for their company file.
• The user will now be able to track the progress of the update via the progress bar that will be shown on the window in front of them.
• Once the upgrade has been completed, the user will be prompted with a confirmation message about the completion of the process.
• Finally, the user can hit ‘Done’, and the upgrade would have been completed at this point.
