The Battle Pass is a tier-based system. It has a total of 90 tiers. The first 27 tiers are free. You can gain these free tiers on a seasonal character. In these 27 free tiers, we find various cosmetics and the smoldering ashes we mentioned earlier. The remaining 63 tiers are included in the premium battle passes. It's worth noting that the rest of the tiers contain cosmetics only and platinum. The smoldering ashes that unlock seasonal buffs can be earned by any player who creates a seasonal character. 

Now, let's see how much the premium battle passes cost. We have the Premium Battle Pass that costs $10. This option unlocks the other 63 tiers that reward cosmetics and platinum. The Battle Pass will have enough platinum so you can buy the next one. The Accelerated Battle Pass costs $25. It contains 20 tier skips and extra cosmetics. The tier skips included in the Accelerated pass cannot be used to unlock the tiers that reward smoldering ashes.

These items can directly influence a character's power. Including them in a premium option would be unfair. To unlock tiers and their associated rewards, players must acquire favor. This is earned from objectives and playing with a seasonal character. 

You can also buy tier skips to unlock tiers. Once again, these cannot be used to gain smoldering ashes. The first Diablo 4 Battle Pass is expected to come when Season 1 starts most likely in July.
