Singapore is home to some of the world’s densest populations. The multiethnic country attracts many tourists because of its first-rate infrastructure. The nation’s open economy is thriving and rich in arts, culture, and economics. Singapore has made significant strides in the education field due to its growth. Singapore’s Ministry of Education and elementary schools offer a six-year obligatory education program.

The primary school curriculum is meant to provide students of school age with a solid foundation in learning. Singapore primary school fees are also relatively priced since the country’s development is proven and successful. Read on to know more.

What is Primary School?

A primary school is an elementary, junior, or grade school where students get elementary or primary education. Typically, kids finish preschool before starting primary school. Children that receive a primary education are ready to move on to secondary education. Subject-based learning will be presented to young pupils in primary schools, where they will study topics including languages, science, math, art, music, and social studies.

Primary School System in Singapore

Six years of primary education are included in the Singapore education system. All elementary school pupils follow the same curriculum in years one through four. Individual foundation or standard-level courses are available for pupils in years five and six. Fundamental-level courses are intended to offer extra assistance to learners. The stream a kid enrolls in secondary school is determined by their performance on the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).

Subject-based banding is a technique that Singapore is testing and putting into practice. For example, in math, a student may choose a technical stream, whereas in English, they might select an express stream. All elementary schools now use subject-based banding. Singapore international school admission is open; consider enrolling your child without delay after going through the necessary details.

Primary School Curriculum in Singapore

The elementary school curriculum in Singapore emphasizes three things:

  • Subject-based learning

  • Knowledge skills

  • Character development

The following subjects will be covered for students throughout their primary school years:

    • Mother Tongue Language (MTL)

    • English Language

    • Mathematics

    • Science

    • Art and Music

    • Physical Education

    • Social Studies

    • Character and Citizenship Education

The school will provide appropriate subject combinations for students to pursue in primary 5 and primary 6 based on their performance in the primary 4 examinations. During primary 6, students will take the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). Additionally, all Singaporean primary school students must participate in extracurricular activities, project work, and active learning programs.

Benefits of Enrolling your Children in Primary School in Singapore

      • Develops communication skills: The foundational education of a youngster affects their reading and speaking skills. Primary school is crucial for a child’s overall development since a child’s communication skills develop between the ages of three and five.

      • Aids with social and emotional development: Children learn to respect others, distinguish between right and wrong, grasp the need for sharing, settle disagreements, and express themselves via group activities in primary school.

      • Increases self-confidence: Children who go to a preschool that fosters a positive and caring environment are more confident. Early education offers a secure, enjoyable, and healthy atmosphere where kids can form identities and discover new things about themselves.

How to Enroll your Child in a Singapore Primary School?

If a parent decides to send their kids to an international school, they should contact the institution immediately to initiate the Singapore international school admission process. Typically, paying the registration fee and taking the assessment exam is part of the application procedure for international schools. In addition, parents must provide an admission fee and a deposit for the child’s successful enrollment if they complete all conditions.

        Conclusion

Children learn in primary school that they are a component of society and how to live together with tolerance. Thanks to the system, they can better understand concepts, appreciate the knowledge, and relate it to their strengths and unique traits. In addition, it can aid in children’s language acquisition and extend their perspectives on diverse languages and cultures. Given that it serves as the cornerstone for secondary education, the primary foundation must be solid.
