Meta Officially Competes for AGI Supremacy

**Meta's Ambition for AGI and Open-Source Development**

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, revealed in an interview with The Verge that Meta is entering the field of artificial general intelligence (AGI). Despite AGI being an abstract concept without a clear definition, Zuckerberg expressed Meta's intent to develop it. The company may even consider making AGI open-source, a strategy similar to the one employed during the creation of Llama 2, Meta's large language model.

Talent is recognized as a critical resource in AGI development, with Zuckerberg acknowledging the intense talent wars in the field. As the pursuit of AGI attracts more innovators and venture capitalists, top engineers are in high demand, and their recruitment comes with substantial financial bids, reaching as high as $1 million per annum.

Executing an AGI model requires extraordinary computing power. By the end of 2024, Meta is expected to own nearly 600,000 Nvidia GPUs, positioning itself to handle the large-scale training of AI and AGI development.
