A Brief History of MyPascoConnect

The MyPascoConnect initiative was born out of former Superintendent Kurt Browning’s Vision 2020 initiative, which aimed to improve education in Pasco County.

This app is intended to promote collaboration and communication among all school stakeholders, including students, teachers, parents, and administrators and Everyone involved can feel more connected than ever before by creating an official, district-sponsored communication platform that can be used both on and off campus.

The idea for an app arose after officials discovered that many parents already communicate with their children’s teachers via text messages and email.

Parents can sign up to receive digital alerts that keep them up to date on everything concerning their child. Administrators can manage all aspects of their school and staff from a single, secure, and user-friendly platform.

When the balance is low, parents will be notified so they can quickly and easily top up these accounts using any credit card or PayPal account. Parents can also use the app to view old menus in case their children missed something particularly tasty!

How do students benefit from this?

Through an easy-to-use interface, students will be able to communicate with their teachers, school, and district administrators. They can now participate in parent-teacher conferences as well as school-wide announcements via Mypascoconnect. It accomplishes this through the use of an active communication platform known as The Newsfeed, where anyone (students, teachers, staff, and administrators) can post anything for others to read.

It’s easier to keep up with what’s going on around you by following your friends and getting updates from those you care about most. Plus, there’s nothing more reassuring than knowing that everything they post and share has been moderated specifically for them and they can also view their grades, academic information, and assignments that have been completed.

Is it safe for schools?

While MyPascoConnect appears to be a harmless (and necessary) addition to help schools streamline their processes, it also appears to be an ideal target for hackers. The FBI is investigating after approximately 700 school districts were forced to shut down their computer systems in early 2017.

Furthermore, there is no way of knowing if anyone has already breached security on any of Pasco County’s networks; if so, there is no way of knowing who, only that someone was present. Pasco, on the other hand, does not appear to be concerned about its potential vulnerabilities; they simply wait for people to sign up and use it.

Create your student profile.
Create a profile for your parent or employee.
