A Brief History of MyPascoConnect
The MyPascoConnect initiative was born out of former Superintendent Kurt Browning’s Vision 2020 initiative, which aimed to improve education in Pasco County.

Through an easy-to-use interface, students will be able to communicate with their teachers, school, and district administrators. It accomplishes this through the use of an active communication platform known as The Newsfeed, where anyone (students, teachers, staff, and administrators) can post anything for others to read.

Is it safe for schools?
While MyPascoConnect appears to be a harmless (and necessary) addition to help schools streamline their processes, it also appears to be an ideal target for hackers. The FBI is investigating after approximately 700 school districts were forced to shut down their computer systems in early 2017.
Furthermore, there is no way of knowing if anyone has already breached security on any of Pasco County’s networks; if so, there is no way of knowing who, only that someone was present.
