How To Do A Repost Of Story On Instagram
How To Do A Repost Of Story On Instagram
Instagram allows you to share interactive and short-lived content to your audience via the Stories. Videos, music, Photos, quizzes, polls you can name them, all can be shared on Instagram. On instagram you can even share other people’s Stories to your Story. But unlike doing a reposting of regular posts from your feed, for you reposting a Story is a lot more complicated.
The existence of the whole social media borders around sharing. So now, what’s the fun in viewing a picture that is breathtaking or viewing a funny video on someone’s Instagram Story and you are not being able to repost?
In this tutorial, we’ll show you the conditions that is attached to reposting Stories that are on Instagram and how you can be able to repost a Story whether you were tagged in it or not.
Note: The methods, tools, and tricks listed in this tutorial are applicable to both the iOS and Android users.
How You Can Repost Stories That You’re Tagged In
When someone had tagged you on an Instagram post, Instagram will give you a notification in the Activity tab. But things work differently with that of Stories. If you are now tagged by one of your followers on their Story, Instagram will send the notification via your Direct Message (DM) thread with that follower.
Now you’ll also get the option to share the Story (that they tagged you in) on your Story for up to twenty four hours. Instagram calls this “@mention Sharing.”
Here’s how it works:
1. When you receive a notification that someone tagged or mentioned you in their Story, first you open the DM then you tap the Add to Your Story option that is located just below the Story.
2. Alternatively, open the Story and then you tap the Add this to your story button.
3. Now you proceed to adorn the story with stickers, texts, quiz, filters, poll, etc.
4. Then tap the Send to button when you’re done editing the story to how you want it to be.
5. Finally, you proceed to the (re)share the content you just newly-created to Your Story, select followers, or to Close Friends.
Things to Note
1. You can only repost a Story that you were mentioned or tagged in.
2. You cannot do a reshare of a Story from a private account, except the person’s privacy settings allows for stories resharing.
3. Instagram will give notification to the original poster that you reposted their Story.
How To Repost An Instagram Story When Not Tagged
You also can repost anyone’s Instagram posts, IGTV videos, and Reels on your Story even if you weren’t tagged or mentioned. Note this, that Instagram treats Stories differently. As we mentioned above, Stories only support @mention sharing; it’s nearly impossible to repost a random Story that you weren’t tagged in. But there’s a way around it.
This involves saving the Story first to your device (by making use of a third-party tool) and then you repost the content as your Story. It requires some effort but that is the closest you can get to reposting a Story on the Instagram when you are not tagged or mentioned. Here are the steps involved:
1. Firstly, you should note the Instagram username of the person who shared the Story you want to repost. For this tutorial, we’ll be using the example reposting a Story @fcbarcelona on Instagram.
2. Visit InstaDP on your web browser (it works on either mobile or PC) and go to the Stories section.
3. Now enter the Instagram username (in #1) and then you tap the search button.
4. Select the account from the search result.
InstaDP will give you a display of the stories (videos and photos ) shared by the account in the last 24 hours.
5. Now tap the Download button to enable you save the Story you want to repost.
6. Launch your Instagram and tap the camera icon that is located at the top-left corner of the app to go to the Story section.
7. Tap the square card that is located at the bottom-left corner and select the downloaded Story from your gallery.
8. Pinch-in the corners or sides of the Story if you want to resize it to your preference. Tap and move the Story to adjust it to the position you will prefer it. You could also repost the Story in its original size if you want; it’s totally depends on you.
Although this is not compulsory, we strongly recommend that you still tag the original poster of the content. To do this, tap the text tool at the top-right corner and then type the Instagram username (remember to add the @ symbol) of the person that originally posted it.
9. Tap the Send to button after you’re done editing the repost.
10. Share to Your Story or to Close Friends list and tap Done.
