All Android users will be able to access the Twitter Communities feature

Twitter, Android.

All Android users will be able to access the Twitter Communities feature

Twitter's Communities feature will be available on Android devices four months after it was introduced on iOS and the web. Participants in Communities are now available to Android users who have updated to the most recent version of the Twitter app. Upon joining their first community, a new Communities tab is added to the user's navigation bar, and the user's profile is updated.

According to the developers, the feature is intended to make it easier for users to connect with one another based on shared interests. As opposed to tweeting to their usual group of followers, users can join social hubs and send direct messages to others who share their interests rather than their usual group of followers. While those tweets are visible to the general public, replies are only visible to other members of the community. In addition, Twitter notes that since its launch, the feature has gained in popularity, with new Communities launching on a weekly basis and thousands of users participating in a wide range of topics, including Roblox, the Xbox Community, Tech Twitter (technical topics), fashion, R&B Twitter, and Formula 1.

Last month, Twitter provided a detailed overview of its plans to update and expand Communities. According to the company, all Communities are either invite-only or open to the general public at the time of writing. On the other hand, Twitter is testing a "invitation to join" feature that would allow administrators and moderators to approve or deny requests. Also being tested is a "Ranked Timeline," which will display the most recent tweets from users' Communities first, but will retain the option to view their timeline in chronological order if users prefer.

Twitter also indicates that it is working on ways for users to express themselves within their Communities, according to their website. It will look into developing a mechanism for moderators to highlight noteworthy content in online communities. Twitter will also experiment with different ways for users and moderators to participate in Q&A sessions.

Twitter's Communities feature is a fantastic complement to the company's efforts to court the creator communities in which it operates. Over the past year, the company has introduced new features such as Super Follows, a paid subscription feature, Ticketed Spaces for its audio rooms, and Tip Jar, a one-time payment feature.
