CES 2022 will conclude one day early after significant cancellations of in-person events
To be completely honest, this is primarily a public relations campaign. CES attendees will tell you that day four is largely ceremonial, according to those who have attended. A large number of empty booths and several others actively packing up to leave are not uncommon on the final day of the show. CES should have been shortened to three days years ago, rather than the current five.
Instead of breaking, bend. Multiple major companies have canceled in-person plans for the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, prompting organizers to scramble to save the event, which will take place next week.
Lenovo, Intel, AMD, MSI, OnePlus, and IBM are among the companies that have pulled out of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the last week. Other notable exhibitors include Pinterest, Amazon, Google, Meta, and Twitter. CES will and must continue, said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Convention and Visitors Authority (CTA), in a December 25 opinion piece for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He criticized the press and other critics for "telling the story exclusively through the lens of drama and big name corporations."
Given the passage of time, the tone has shifted slightly in favor of the chorus.
The CTA announced on December 31 that CES 2022 would conclude one day earlier than scheduled. In its new location, Las Vegas, the live event will take place from January 5 to 7, 2022, with the days of January 3 and 4 designated as media days. The show's association stated that the precautionary measure was taken in addition to the show's existing health protocols as a precautionary measure.
