Cyberpunk 2077 dev explains its lack of police chases
When asked on a recent livestream why a game with such a strong emphasis on vehicles and driving lacks car or police chase sequences, Pawel Sasko responded that law enforcement officers simply spawn near the player, which can be quite annoying. Sasko was irritated by the fact that the feature is present in "every other open-world game," as stated by the person who posed the question to him.
"To begin with, not every open-world game is created equal, correct? As an example, I doubt that Sonic, the chase game, or Elden Ring, the open-world game, will include it in their respective games "'I responded,' he explained.
Despite the fact that Sasko appeared to be joking, some people took his comment to be quite snarky in nature. The opinion of someone who "willfully disregards the point of the question and instead focuses on the way it was phrased" is not something I'm interested in hearing, according to one Redditor.
Aside from that, Sasko explains that CD Projekt Red intended to include police chases in Cyberpunk 2077, but they were cut due to technical limitations. These restrictions could be related to last-generation consoles' limited processing power, which has been cited as a contributing factor to several of the game's numerous technical and performance issues since its release.
This was not because the team did not want to make it, but rather because there were some factors, you know, that prevented us from actually delivering it, as explained by the producer.
This month marks the one-year anniversary of the release of the infamous cyberpunk novel Cyberpunk 2077. A lawsuit brought against the game was recently settled for a mere $1.85 million by CD Projekt, and despite the developers' claims, Keanu Reeves has stated that he has never actually played the game.
