Founded in Egypt, FilKhedma is a home-based cleaning platform that has been fully acquired by SweepSouth, a South African company. As part of SweepSouth's expansion across the continent, this acquisition provides FilKhedma's market research with a new technology stack that complements its existing technology stack.
In 2014, Omar Ramadan founded Filkhedma, Egypt's leading home cleaning service, which now has three locations and serves tens of thousands of customers a year in cleaning, maintenance, and beauty services. Through the use of technology, it generates consistent revenue for over 2000 service providers around the world.
SweepSouth, founded in South Africa the same year by Alen Ribic and Aisha Randor, is a global network of sweepers. In Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, the company provides a centralized platform for residential servicing and maintenance.
All FilKhedma employees will remain on the job, including Ramadan, who will serve as a member of the combined entity's executive team. As a result of this acquisition, SweepSouth is now one of the few startups to be present in all four of the continent's major technology markets at the same time. Early on, FilKhedma received a $1 million investment from The Cairo Angels.
