HardOCP, a pioneering tech site, returns in a limited capacity

Since HardOCP founder Kyle Bennett announced his departure from the site in order to join Intel as Director of Enthusiast Engagement, a position in which Bennett would act as a liaison between the chipmaker and the enthusiast community, it has been nearly three years. HardOCP, on the other hand, has welcomed him back, albeit in a limited capacity, this week.

Bennett stated in a farewell message delivered on March 19, 2019, that he had been in the same position for more than two decades and that the opportunity to try something different was very appealing.

As Bennett explains, "My new position at Intel will allow me to serve as another voice for enthusiasts within the company, which I believe is something that the company will require in the future." "In a similar vein, I'll have the opportunity to serve as an Intel spokesperson who communicates directly with the enthusiast community, which I believe is equally important."

Kyle's brief stint at Intel was the only thing that surprised me about all of this.

The publication of news, editorials, and hardware reviews would be discontinued, according to Bennett, who stated that HardOCP would be "mothballed." Given the April 1 effective date, some speculated that it was an April Fool's joke played ahead of time. A subsequent Twitter post, which included a photo of his Intel employee badge, allayed any fears that it was all part of a larger prank.

Bennett returned to HardOCP on December 28, 2021, after a two-year absence. A brief update stated that he had been out of the game for nearly three years, but that he wished to find another outlet other than social media to express himself. As in the past, he cautioned visitors not to expect daily news updates or reviews from the website. More accurately, think of it as a blog where he will occasionally discuss technology-related topics such as companies and equipment. Kyle can also be found on Twitter, where he can be followed.
