How to Sync Your Clipboard Between Windows and Android
Windows 10 is the only operating system that can sync its clipboard with other devices, including Windows and Android. SwiftKey, a famous Android keyboard application, makes use of this feature to sync your clipboard between your phone and your computer. It's a fairly useful tool to have around.
How the Clipboard Sync Work
To "sync" your clipboard across Windows and Android, what exactly does that mean? Consider the following scenario: you copy some text on your Android device, and then you go to your PC and use Ctrl+V to paste the exact same text into Windows 10. In certain cases, this can save you a significant amount of time.
To Begin, Turn on Clipboard Sync on Windows 10
To begin using this feature, you must first enable clipboard syncing on your Windows computer. For this, go to Settings > System > Clipboard and select the appropriate option. Toggle the switch to “Sync Across Devices.”
On the same screen, scroll down a little farther and select "Automatically sync text that I copy" from the drop-down menu. This will ensure that it syncs without the need for any more effort on your part.
Next, Activate Clipboard Sync on Android
We'll now move on to SwiftKey on your Android device for the next step. According to this article, the feature is currently accessible in the beta version of the software as of early August 2020. After downloading and installing the app from the Google Play Store, launch it by double-clicking on the icon.
SwiftKey Beta will be selected as your default keyboard application, and you will be prompted to do so. Don't be afraid to try it.
After that, you'll need to sign into SwiftKey using the same Microsoft account that you use to log onto your Windows computer. At the top of the Settings screen, select "Account."
Then choose "Sign in with Microsoft" from the drop-down menu. When using a Google account, the clipboard syncing does not function.
You may then return to the SwiftKey Settings and select "Rich Input" once you've logged in.
Select “Clipboard” from the drop-down menu.
We can now turn on the feature known as "Sync Clipboard History."
You will be prompted to check in to your Microsoft account one again in order to validate your identity. To do so, press the "OK" button.
That completes the process! The Android clipboard will now contain any text that you copy from your Android device, and the Windows clipboard will now contain any text that you copy from your Windows device. It's a very flawless operation.
