Single-ish, a new Kenyan television series, will premiere on Showmax on January 20, 2022

Single-ish, a drama series adapted from the popular South African series Unmarried, has been announced as Showmax's next original series in Kenya. Showmax is Africa's leading online streaming service and is available in over 100 countries.

The thirteen-episode series will premiere on the platform on January 20, 2022, with the first episode airing on January 20, 2022. It is Showmax's second Original series in Kenya, following the Kalasha-nominated hit police procedural and legal drama Crime and Justice, which premiered in 2015. Also noteworthy is that it is the streamer's third Original title to be released in the country, following the recent release of the Showmax Original film Baba Twins.

"Single-ish" follows the lives of three women living in Nairobi, Kenya – Sintamei, Mariah, and Rebecca – as they navigate marriage, relationships, and their professional lives. Additionally, the film explores the women's strong bond of friendship, with the understanding that even if the world around them crumbles, they will always have each other.

Women in the workforce, slay queens, and stay-at-home moms

Sintamei is played by Gathoni Mutua, who is a brilliant lawyer on the verge of becoming a partner in a prestigious law firm. Sintamei is driven by ambition and career advancement. She has been happily married to the man of her dreams for ten years, and they have three children. However, upon closer inspection, it appears that she does not have the life of a woman's dreams after all.

As Mariah, Minne Kariuki portrays an independent woman with a taste for the finer things in life who takes advantage of her good looks to achieve whatever she desires. She pretends to be able to afford a luxurious lifestyle and flaunts it all on social media in order to stay up to date with the latest trends.

In Rebecca, Faith Kibathi plays the grounded Rebecca, a housewife and mother of two who has been living with her high school sweetheart for nine years despite the fact that they are not legally married. Rebecca is played by Faith Kibathi.

Mburu Kimani (Nairobi Half-Life), Brian Abajah (Sincerely Daisy), Michael Munyoki (A Grand Little Lie), Lucarelli Onyango (Crime and Justice), Lenana Kariba (Selina), Dora Nyaboke (Crime and Justice), and Jacky Kaboi (Crime and Justice) also star in Single-ish. Single-ish is directed by Brian Abajah (Sincerely Daisy) (Bait).

They have praised the show, noting that it accurately portrays the struggles of modern women, is highly relatable, and incorporates elements of real-life dating experiences in Nairobi. Additionally, it demonstrates the value of dependable female friendship, which is especially important during difficult times.

As previously announced, Single-ish is produced by Insignia Productions, the studio behind hit shows Changing Times and New Beginnings. Philippe Bresson and Grace Kahaki of Insignia Productions collaborated on the show's direction with Robby Bresson, who also served as executive producer (Simiyu Samurai).
