WhatsApp Is Currently Testing the Capability to Upload Media as a Status Update When Sharing Over Chat
According to reports, WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow users to upload a photo or video as a Status update when sending media content to a recipient in a chat conversation. According to reports earlier this month, the change is a follow-up to the option to edit recipients of media content before sending them in chats, which appeared to be in beta testing. According to reports, WhatsApp is working on an update for both Android and iOS devices. However, there is no set date for when end users will be able to access the new features and functionality.
As reported by the WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, when users send photos or videos through chat, they appear to have the option of sending them to a variety of recipients, including their current status. Users would be able to create new Status updates for the media content they are sharing with their contacts much more quickly as a result of this.
In order to demonstrate that the change is underway, WABetaInfo has shared a screenshot from the beta version of WhatsApp for Android on its website. Also indicated is that the same update will be included in a future WhatsApp for iOS beta update in the near future.
WhatsApp released Android app beta version 2.21.24.11 earlier this month, which included the ability to edit recipients of Status updates prior to uploading a photo or video. Users can use this feature to limit the visibility of their Status to a small number of selected contacts.
WhatsApp was also recently spotted developing the ability to edit recipients prior to sharing media in a chat, allowing users to select or remove specific recipients from the list of contacts who will receive the selected photo or video before sharing it with the rest of the group. Despite the fact that beta testers were not informed of the changes, WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.21.25.19 reportedly contained references to that update.
Along with making it easier to edit the media content of recipients, WhatsApp was spotted working on a new camera interface last week, which relocates the Flash shortcut from the bottom-left corner of the screen to the top-right corner of the screen, according to reports. An additional link to recent photos would be included in the interface, in addition to the Flash shortcut.
