GITEX 2024: OPSWAT Sets Stage for Critical Infrastructure Security

business .

OPSWAT, a trusted cybersecurity partner for numerous governments and major private sector organizations across the Middle East, Africa, and CIS, will showcase its commitment to securing critical infrastructure at the 44th GITEX Technology Week. The company’s focus will be on its advanced cybersecurity solutions, designed to bridge the operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) divide and equip security professionals with tools to mitigate a wide range of cyber threats.

Sertan Selcuk, Vice President of Sales for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, Pakistan, and CIS at OPSWAT, emphasized the importance of protecting critical infrastructure, stating, “Critical infrastructure calls for critical defense. OPSWAT urges clients to trust no file or device. We believe that only through a zero-trust approach can we effectively combat malware, including zero-day exploits, and protect vital IT and OT environments from sophisticated attacks.”

At the heart of OPSWAT’s presence at GITEX will be its Mobile CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) Lab, where attendees can explore the company's MetaDefender platform through interactive, region-specific use cases. These demonstrations will cover a variety of critical areas, such as storage security, supply-chain security, secure managed file transfer, peripheral and removable media protection, access and endpoint security, email security, OT security, and cross-domain security, among others.

Visitors to the OPSWAT booth will also have the chance to tour the Nuclear Plant Model Reactor, showcasing the company's ability to secure highly sensitive industrial environments. The demonstration will allow attendees to see how OPSWAT’s IT/OT platform is deployed in real-world scenarios that are particularly relevant to critical infrastructure across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

Selcuk highlighted the increasing complexity of technology environments and the evolving nature of cyber threats, urging critical infrastructure security leaders to adopt a more comprehensive approach. He noted that leaders must not only focus on threat detection but also consider how to secure the perimeters of their organizations, protect against vulnerabilities in peripheral media and file uploads, and implement robust security measures for web applications and storage systems. Moreover, fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness is essential for maintaining public trust.

In celebration of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, OPSWAT will be offering complimentary Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) certifications to attendees at GITEX, as well as through on-demand sessions. Irfan Shakeel, VP of Training and Certification Services at OPSWAT, remarked, “This OPSWAT Academy initiative not only enhances the GITEX learning experience for participants but also underscores our commitment to advancing cybersecurity knowledge and skills across the industry.”

In addition to certifications, the OPSWAT Academy will host a Cyber Challenge during the event, offering participants an opportunity to test their cybersecurity skills while competing for prizes. Quizzes designed to enhance attendees’ understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals will also be available.

Beyond training and competitions, OPSWAT will engage with IT professionals, decision-makers, and key stakeholders to foster strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing cybersecurity integration across diverse technology sectors. Selcuk explained, “Our goal is to create collaborative opportunities that address the security challenges of both IT and OT environments. We are committed to driving innovation and strengthening our collective ability to protect the most critical assets from the most significant threats.”

OPSWAT's participation at GITEX reflects its dedication to advancing the field of cybersecurity and empowering organizations to safeguard critical infrastructure from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
