The country has about 7,000 km of coastline which mostly extends along the southern coast.  However, despite so many surfing treasures, India isn’t exactly a country known for surfing.  But, once you test the waters with surfing, you’ll really love it from the first dive in. There are many surfing spots which are quite attractive but we tend to ignore them, so you should have enough time to visit these spots so that you can roam freely alone.  So, if there is a surfer in you (and we are sure you do) that is your chance to go surfing with the water waves.  Here are the top surfing spots in India that you can visit.

Kovalam Beach, with its richness and popularity, is one of the most popular surfing destinations in India.  It is not only famous for being the best surfing spot, but it also has convenient hotels and lots of places where you can hang out with your friends.  So, it can make your vacation more fun because of surfing.  There is a beach break here and when these waves rise up to 7 feet, they go over the surrounding houses.  Also, near the beach you will find constant waves.  If you are a beginner and have never seen big waves in the ocean then this surfing station is the right place for you.

What is today is the result of millions of years of extended lava flow in water.  Here the waves can be up to 400 meters high.  Wave flow is at its peak during the fall and winter seasons.  This spot is unknown among the top surfing destinations, so many ways to find this spot are on the cards.  Plus, no matter what stage of surfing you are at, this spot is perfect for everyone. Even more swell waves look great when the southerly winds blow.  This is the reason why it is considered as one of the best surfing spots in India.

It is said to be one of the windiest places on earth.  So, you know what that means.  So book a date to enjoy the cool waters here for surfing.  The waves here are fantastic and you will come back with a lot of memories with you.  You can rent a room to stay in so you can leave early for the trip.  There is also a colossal statue of Thiruvalluvar, a Tamil saint and poet, near the island.

There are many exciting surfing spots in, Karnataka the area from north to south.  The months from May to September are considered the best time to go on the water with boards.  Although it is a bit difficult to reach here, it is worth trying once there to witness the mighty waves.  It would be best to get some information about it from the local people over there.  In the end, you won’t have to regret any fuss or hassle.

With a reputation of being one of the most beautiful beaches in Karnataka, this beach will definitely add more fun to your surfing experience.  The coastline of this beach is about 6 kms. Which lets you experience all kinds of surfing waves (big, small, huge and pretty much anything you want).  Although there are no surfing clubs and facilities for competitions, this place has never had a ‘dangerous surf wave’. 

It Is important to note that surf conditions in India may vary depending on the time of year and weather patterns.Generally provides the best surf, but it is essential to check local conditions while surfing and be aware of safety precautions.  In addition, it is recommended to bring your own equipment, because surfboard rental may not be readily available at all locations.
