Andela broadens its reach beyond software engineers with the launch of a talent-matching platform

Andela has announced that it is broadening its offering beyond engineering talent to include design, data, and product management professionals as well.

It comes six months after Andela raised $200 million in a Series E round, valuing the company at approximately $1.5 billion and establishing it as one of Africa's unicorn startups, according to the company.

According to Agnes Muthoni, Director of the Andela Learning Community, the move was made because "we've learned through our work across the continent and beyond that the tech ecosystem requires more than just engineering talent."

The new group of technical talent will go through an onboarding process that will include assessments of their English language and soft-skills, technical assessments, and a review of their portfolio.

After launching a new talent matching platform, the company claims that it will provide a "more direct and personalized hiring experience" for both candidates and recruiters.

A positive hiring relationship between recruiters and talent is intended to be established through the use of this new platform, which is intended to provide a direct and personalized job search experience.

The story of Andela

It began operations as a global talent network in 2014, connecting businesses with vetted remote technical talent in emerging markets through a hands-on matching process that aids clients in scaling their technical teams.

In addition to training and developing software developers, it seeks to cultivate African information technology talent while also providing global technology companies with access to a highly skilled resource pool of employees.

The company, which is already well-known for its focus on high-quality global engineering talent from more than 100 countries, has expanded its offering to include designers, product managers, and data talent, among other positions. Additionally, Andela is launching a new brand identity to better reflect its growth.

It is expanding the functionality of its talent matching platform by including a self-service component. Businesses will be able to manage their own hiring processes with the help of this new platform.

What it does and how it works

The company's new platform, which is powered by data-driven technology and algorithms, provides intelligent match recommendations in real time. In addition to eliminating traditional lengthy contract periods and unnecessary sales calls, the platform allows hiring managers and recruiters to move more quickly through the hiring lifecycle, saving them time and money. Its primary goal is to present high-caliber talent to clients as soon as possible.

On the new platform, hiring managers can get started right away by creating a company profile, posting a job, and instantly viewing the curated candidates they have selected.

Andela's matching algorithm considers factors such as the breadth and depth of skill requirements, overlaps in time zones and working hours, industry expertise, and team fit before making a match.

Another intriguing feature is the ability to fine-tune the personalized recommendations provided by the service. When users accept or reject recommendations, they are also prompted to provide specific feedback about their experience. With each piece of feedback, the platform becomes more tailored to the individual.

A simple and straightforward graph visualizing compatibility, skills, and preferences can also be used to determine how well a job seeker's (talent's) abilities compare to those of their competitors.

Because of this, Andela has focused its efforts on providing access to the world's best software engineers to businesses looking to establish remote engineering teams.

Indeed, Andela's platform is already being used by hundreds of leading companies, including GitHub, Goldman Sachs, and Cloudflare, to rapidly scale their engineering teams. Today, this new platform reflects both the evolution of the company and the evolution of the global talent industry. Despite the fact that the company's human-centric mission has not changed, the brand evolution provides a more contemporary aesthetic.

"To help talent find jobs that require more than just technical skills, we developed our new platform." Instead, we assist them in finding careers that are a good fit for their lifestyles. In addition, this is effective for recruiters. By eliminating the need to waste time sifting through resumes and making screening calls, our platform allows businesses to hire top talent in less than two weeks, and frequently in just a few hours or minutes.

"Another way in which Andela's brand has served as an inspiration to software developers around the world is through our belief that brilliance is shared equally. While acknowledging these limitations, it is necessary for brands to evolve in lockstep with the businesses they represent. "I'm extremely proud of what the team has accomplished and am looking forward to introducing the new Andela to the world," says Jeremy Johnson, CEO and co-founder of Andela.

As a result of the new platform, recruiting firms will be able to find top talent in less time than they anticipate, while hiring managers will have a more straightforward approach to their talent search.
