How to Make a Change to Your Twitch Username
Each and every one of us has made a humiliating username at some point in our lives that we later come to regret. Here's how to change your Twitch username if you're stuck with an awkward username from five years ago or if you simply misspelled something.
If you wanted to use a different Twitch username in the past, you had to create a completely different Twitch account. Creating a new channel was difficult for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was that streamers would lose their entire list of followers and subscribers from their previous channel, as well as all of their settings and preferences from the previous channel.
The name of your account can be changed by following a few simple steps, which are detailed below. A repeat of this procedure is permitted once every 60 days.
To get started, log into your Twitch account first. Select "Settings" from the Home page by clicking on your username in the top-right corner and then on the drop-down menu that appears.
Navigate to the "Profile Settings" page and look for the text sections that say "Username" and "Display Name." You can also make changes to your bio in this section (the section on your Twitch channel titled "About Me").
Your new username will become active immediately after you make changes to the Profile Settings section. The followers and subscribers to your Twitch channel will be aware of the change in your username.
However, the capitalization of your display name must match the spelling of your username. On your profile and in the comments section, your Twitch display name will be displayed.
Upon changing your username, Twitch will retain the old username for a period of at least six months, according to a blog post on the platform's official website. Upon recycling the username, Twitch will place it back into circulation and add it to a pool of options from which the community and new users can choose, with the exception of Twitch Partner usernames, which will only be recycled in exceptional circumstances.
