How To Recover Photos From Your Computer After They Have Been Deleted Permanently Using A Backup

iPhone, Recover Photos.

How to recover photos from your computer after they have been deleted permanently using a Backup

The process of recovering deleted photos is time-consuming and difficult. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Photos application on your iPhone or Mac before continuing.

  • On an iPhone, go to the Photos app. Locate (and then tap) the Recently Deleted item under Utilities while scrolling through the Albums section. Whenever you see the photo(s) you're looking for, tap on it and then tap Recover in the lower right corner of the screen.
  • On a Mac, open the Photos application. In the left-hand sidebar, select the Recently Deleted icon or label. If you see the photo(s) you want to recover, select them by clicking on them and then clicking on the Recover button at the top of the window.

If the photographs are missing, you'll have to do some fancy footwork to figure out whether or not they can still be found and recovered. The first step is to figure out how your photographs were originally stored on your computer system. Your photos can be restored from an iCloud backup if they were previously stored locally on your device (as opposed to in iCloud Photos). It only takes a few seconds, but you will lose any newly created data on your device during this process. If the photos are worth the effort, here's how to get them back into your possession.

1. Open the Settings app, then scroll down and tap Photos to find out where all of your photos have been stored so far. If you haven't enabled iCloud Photos on your device, your photos are stored on your device's internal hard drive instead.

2. Create a new backup of your data. As a precaution, you should perform a backup of your device now in case any new or critical data has been added since your previous backup. Why? We're about to replace your current data with an older backup, which should contain your deleted photos. Please be patient while we complete this process. However, in order to accomplish this, we will have to overwrite the current/existing data. Once the backup has been completed, move on to the next step.

3. Delete all of the data from your computer or mobile device. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone to begin the process of transferring or resetting your iPhone. Continue with Erase All Content and Settings to complete the process. Once you have entered your passcode or Apple ID password, your device will be completely erased. It is possible that this process will take a few moments.

4. Restore your iPhone to its original factory settings. In order for your device to behave as if it were brand new, you'll need to turn it on and go through the setup process.

5. When the Apps & Data screen appears, choose Restore from iCloud Backup from the drop-down menu.

6. Log in to iCloud with your Apple ID and password to continue.

7. Make a decision on the most appropriate backup. Each backup is identified by a date or by the size of the file it contains. Choose a backup that was created prior to deleting your photos from your computer.

8. Complete the installation. The process of restoring your data may take several hours, depending on the amount of content stored on your device.

Note: Maintaining a Wi-Fi connection and plugging your phone in as frequently as possible will ensure that the recovery process is successful.

9. Identify where you kept your photographs. Photographs saved on your device during the backup process will be restored if they were saved on your device during the backup process.
