The Best Type of Electrical Testers
There are many types of electric tools that we use frequently for various purposes and the tester is one of the tools. Professional electricians keep various types of testers for various purposes because a single tester can not be used for other works. Testers are used to check voltages, amperage, and short and open circuits. Some testers are multifunction devices that perform various tasks as well other than checking voltage. Here in this article, I will tell you all about these testers so you can also decide what sort of tester you need for your work and you can get them on Shopify alternative free.
- Simple Voltage Tester
These are the most common type of testers which are also known as inductance testers. These testers allow us to check for voltage in the wires without touching any electrical thing. These are safe and very easy to use and anyone can easily purchase them because they are not expensive at all. In this device, there are two small tips on the ends that sense the voltage in the electrical wires or in circuit breakers, lamp cords, and other electric switches. You can easily get a reading of your wire by just putting the tip of the tester in an electric slot or just touching it. It is for all the small work and that’s why every household must have this in their homes.
- Neon Voltage Detector or Tester
These testers tell you whether the voltage is present or not. They will not give you any type of reading about the voltage in the circuit. These are small testers with a neon light in the tester. These testers do not need any battery. It is not costly at all. It is very easy to use because you only have to touch one tester to a hot wire, screw terminal, or outlet slot. Then, touch the other probe to a neutral and ground control and the small neon will light up if any current will be present in it.
- Plug-in Circuit Analyzer
These are also very small types of testers that can tell you about more than voltage reading when you plug them into the functional electric circuit. These are generally used on the outlet which has at least three slots because they will not work on the two-slot outlet. These testers have also neon lights inside them which light up in different patterns to tell different things. there is a chart stuck on it that will tell you about the patterns. These analyzers do not need any battery or charging.
- Continuity Tester
This tester has a probe on one end and a cord with an alligator clip on another. You need to touch each end at two points along an electrical path. If the current is present then the light gets illuminated in the tester which indicates that the circuit is complete. These are a little different from the voltage testers because we use them when after switching off the circuit. They do not give any reading but tell you that circuit is complete or broken. These are used when any electrician fits the wires in newly built homes and offices to check that the circuit is complete or not for the safe flow of electric current.
- Multimeter
These are multi-functional testers for various types of functions. These meters tell the exact reading of resistance, AC and DC voltage, continuity, capacitance, and frequency. These meters provide you with almost all the necessary information regarding an electric circuit. It is an analog readout. These testers are available in wide quality and accuracy. These can be a little more costly to purchase than the normal ones.
