Accelerator Centre Invites Applications for New Aerospace Accelerator Program

The Accelerator Centre (AC) has opened applications for the inaugural cohort of its Aerospace Accelerator. The program aims to support ten companies in the aerospace sector by providing a mix of remote and in-person access to mentorship, networking opportunities, potential investors, and access to test facilities, including those at the Region of Waterloo International Airport. The initiative, created in collaboration with the municipal government of the Waterloo Region and Airbus subsidiary Navblue, aims to foster aerospace technologies and contribute to the region's economic growth. Participants will benefit from Navblue's industry expertise as well.

The Accelerator Centre (AC), founded in Waterloo in 2006, has played a significant role in the growth of the Kitchener-Waterloo tech ecosystem. The organization has supported over 750 startups, attracting $1.8 billion in investments for its companies as per its 2023 report. AC has been instrumental in supporting notable Canadian tech companies, including Axonify, Clearpath Robotics, and Miovision.

The Aerospace Accelerator, a new initiative by AC, will provide selected companies with nine months of programming starting in March. Participants in the cohort can avail themselves of up to $500,000 in in-kind perks and discounts from partners such as AWS, Google for Startups, and HubSpot.

The Aerospace Accelerator program by the Accelerator Centre (AC) will culminate in a demo day, allowing participants to showcase their innovations to a diverse audience, including international investors, airport operators, and corporate partners. This platform offers startups the chance to attract potential investment, form strategic partnerships, and gain exposure within the aerospace industry.

The Aerospace Accelerator program by the Accelerator Centre (AC) is open to industry-disrupting technologies from across Canada. However, founders with startups in or strongly connected to the Waterloo Region will receive preference, reflecting the program's commitment to fostering the growth of the local aerospace ecosystem in the Waterloo Region.
