In a groundbreaking ceremony held yesterday, Honorable Tatenda Mavetera, the Minister of ICT, Postal, and Courier Services, led the introduction of the Digitalize Zimbabwe initiative to the community of Domboshava. Joined by Dr. Chirume, the permanent secretary of ICT, Minister Mavetera passionately advocated for the initiative, urging the residents of Domboshava to embrace its vision for the year 2030.

Minister Mavetera emphasized the transformative potential of the Digitalize Zimbabwe initiative, highlighting its goal to provide widespread access to digital technology and empower the youth with essential digital skills. She underscored the importance of equipping young people with personal computers and ensuring unfettered internet access to drive digital literacy and economic development in Domboshava and beyond.

Speaking on the significance of nationwide digital transformation, Minister Mavetera elaborated on its profound effects, citing the transition from traditional Post Office services to the convenience of conducting online transactions from the comfort of one’s home. She emphasized the role of digitalization in enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accessibility across various sectors, including government services, education, healthcare, and commerce.

“The resounding call to Digitalize Zimbabwe is reinforced by the President’s decision to entrust me with the role of Minister of ICT, underscoring his visionary faith in the youth to propel the nation’s digital evolution,” Minister Mavetera added. She expressed gratitude for the government’s support and commitment to advancing digital initiatives, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between public and private stakeholders to achieve sustainable digital development goals.
