Apple is expected to introduce new iPhone models on September 14

In the coming week, Apple is expected to unveil its latest lineup of iPhones.

The company sent out press invitations on Tuesday for a virtual event — dubbed "California Streaming" — that will take place on Tuesday, September 14, at its Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California. The event will be streamed live from the company's headquarters in California.

iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max are expected to join the lineup of Apple's upcoming smartphones, which will be released in September. As well as the new Apple Watch Series 7 — which will include new health features and longer battery life — the company is reportedly working on a new version of its wireless headphones, the Apple AirPods 3, which will have a design more in line with its higher-end AirPods Pro and will include spatial audio support and touch controls.

iPhone: main topic of discussion

As is customary, the iPhone will be the main topic of discussion next week. Due to the fact that the iPhone continues to be the company's most important product, the company's annual September event is typically the most closely watched of the year. Last year, Apple had to postpone the release of its iPhone 12 until October due to production delays caused by the global pandemic.

Apple is expected to make some changes to its camera system this year, according to reports. According to the Apple rumor mill, the iPhone 13 and more affordable iPhone 13 mini will likely have two rear-camera lenses that are placed diagonally for the first time, potentially to make room for a larger sensor. Meanwhile, the three rear-camera lenses on iPhone 13 Pro models could be of varying sizes and be housed within a thicker bump, which would allow for improvements in image stabilization, according to reports. Other new camera features that could be introduced include a portrait mode for videos and astrophotography support, which would allow users to capture images of the night sky.

According to Bloomberg, the new iPhones could also have a smaller "notch" at the top of their displays, which would house the TrueDepth camera, speakers, microphone, and other sensors, allowing for a better view of the touchscreen. In addition, the devices may feature an always-on display, an under-display Touch ID, satellite technology support for sending messages in emergency situations, a faster refresh rate for better gaming, an improved 5G chip, and a larger battery that is expected to last the entire day.

What to Expect

iOS 15 will include a do-not-disturb mode that users can activate when they need to concentrate, as well as away messages in iMessage and the ability to share screens in FaceTime. Driver's license and vaccine verification apps will also be supported by the digital wallet, according to Apple's teaser earlier this year. Typically, the software is released in September of each year.
