In collaboration with renowned interior designer Spazio Ideale, Kuda Technologies, a challenger bank based in the United Kingdom, has unveiled the design of its new Lagos office in Lagos, Nigeria.
With the goal of making banking more accessible, affordable, and rewarding for all Africans on the planet, Babs Ogundeyi and Musty Mustapha founded the startup in 2019.
With over 1.4 million customers in Nigeria, where it began operations as Kuda Microfinance Bank, Kuda is widely considered the most successful bank of the free.
Kuda has established itself as one of Nigeria's leading neobanks, riding the wave of a high-performance team and introducing innovative products and services such as overdrafts, free transfers, and no card maintenance fees, as well as a new office space.
As is customary in Nigerian culture, Kuda's new office departs from the norm by optimizing features such as lighting, colors, and design for the company's high-performance team. Subtle details throughout the office contribute to the company's culture of transparency and encourage the development of innovative ideas.
For Toluwani Odukoya-Ijogun, the Head of Brand and Marketing at Kuda Microfinance Bank, the new office space is a source of great excitement. “I believe that Spazio Ideale did an excellent job in designing our office space.” These designs are of the highest quality and have an international scope, and they will undoubtedly hold their own in a global context.”
When asked about the workplace, Ore Fakorede, the communications manager at Kuda Microfinance Bank, compares it to a living space that encourages creativity and interaction. The office is uncluttered, and you don't feel rushed when you first walk in the door." That is extremely beneficial for one's ability to think... A typical day would not include more than one conversation with a different person. This place is devoid of the usual cubicles, phony sense of privacy, and thin wall that separates you from the person next to you. Besides that, it teaches us to respect one another without the need for physical barriers.”
What Next
Designed by Spazio Ideale, the interior design firm responsible for iconic office spaces such as Paystack and Max.ng, Kuda's clean, relaxing aesthetic was the result of a collaboration between the two companies. Since its inception in 2015, it has taken a customer-centric approach, incorporating innovative designs, immersive environments, and superior execution to achieve this.
When talking about Kuda's office, Tomi Bamgbelu asserts that the quality of any office space is directly proportional to the amount of work done in it. Intelligent space use takes into account factors such as space planning requirements, ergonomics, and proper lighting; all of these factors can work in concert to increase productivity if they are prioritized properly.
