Facebook Africa launches ‘Made by Africa, Loved by the World’ ahead of Africa Day
As part of its celebrations for 'Africa Day' on May 25th, Facebook today announced the launch of a global campaign titled 'Made by Africa, Loved by the World' – a series of short films highlighting the stories of eight extraordinary creatives and small business owners from across the continent who are breaking new ground globally.
From 21st May 2021, the films will be available on a dedicated ‘Made by Africa, Loved by the World' microsite and the official Facebook Africa page. They will showcase the global successes of African creatives and businesses from Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, and Gabon.
This includes South African fashion designer Laduma Ngxokolo, whose clothing line 'Maxhosa' has been worn by global celebrities such as Beyonce and Alicia Keys, and whose designs were recently featured in the film 'Coming to America 2'.
Additionally, Sauti Sol is featured, a collective Afro-pop music group from Kenya that has gained international recognition through nominations and performances in Europe and the United States, as is Mark Angel, a Nigerian comedian with over 15 million global Facebook followers.
The series is dedicated to highlighting heroes and honoring those who are making an impact on Africa and the world through their music, arts, and crafts.
