Hostinger Overview

Hostinger International Ltd is an employee-owned web hosting provider and internet domain registrar that was established in 2004. Hostinger now houses more than 29 million users, together with its subsidiaries in other countries. The company makes use of cloud web hosting technology and offers hosting services with FTP, MySQL, and PHP. An important fact to note is that Hostinger is a parent company of 000Webhost, Weblink, and Niagahoster.

There’s no doubt that when it comes to web hosting, Hostinger is simply the cheapest option that is available today, with prices starting from $0.99 per month. No other company manages to come even close. Most of them offer a basic plan for five times the price that Hostinger charges.

Am sure that at this stage, you might be thinking that this is too good to be true? But let me let you in on a little secret right now. To get the best prices out of Hostinger, you would have to commit to them for several years.

This would be a smart thing to do if the service is actually great. Because your website visitors do not care about how much you pay for hosting. They only bother themselves about fast loading speeds, and about being able to reach your website whenever they need to.  They also want to know that their personal data is going to be kept secure and protected.

Hostinger Features

Hostinger has three shared hosting plans which are Single, Premium, and Business. All these three plans work on top of Hostinger’s very own control panel, known as hPanel, which includes easy auto installations of WordPress and dozens of other content management systems (CMS) in the case that you don't want to use WordPress.

The two advanced plans each come with unlimited bandwidth, unlimited email accounts, and unlimited websites to have on the account. Some extra perks that you would not get with the Single plan include SSH access geeky developers, unlimited subdomains, and unlimited databases. Automatic daily backups are the one most essential feature that the basic plan lacks, meaning you will have to perform backups manually or you would buy the service as a separate add-on.

Hostinger also has a drag-and-drop website builder named Zyro, but it is not available as part of the hosting plans.

Before we dig deeper into Hostinger’s best features, a word of advice for you on the VPS and cloud plans. Hostinger is first and foremost a shared hosting provider. Do not be that guy who goes to the best pizza joint in town and asks for pasta.

hPanel Has All the Basic Features but Lacks Some Advanced Ones

Hostinger has developed their own proprietary control panel known as hPanel, which means that you would not be getting to play with the beloved cPanel that we all grew up to know love. What’s that? Am sure that you are not developing emotional attachments to hosting control panels? If you are, well, you’re the weird one.

While cPanel used to be the de-facto control panel you would get with most hosts (including Hostinger), things tend to change. Due to some boring enterprise drama that happened some time back, hosts have been switching panels away left and right.

But… some things are different. For example, auto installations in cPanel are carried out by Softaculous, which also lets you to clone your site, set up a staging version, and even configure a backup schedule. hPanel’s Auto-Installer does a great job at auto-installing WordPress but it is lacking in those useful extras.

Advanced email features, such as mailing lists, filters, and routings, are also missing from the hPanel software.

Powerful Caching Thanks to the LiteSpeed Web Server

LiteSpeed is not the physical metal server, but the webserver technology that Hostinger makes use of. It consistently ranks as one of the fastest and most reliable web servers that are out there, outperforming the older Apache technology that other hosts such as GoDaddy still use.

You would not have to do anything to configure it. Just sit back and enjoy the top-notch performance that it delivers, especially for WordPress websites.

What you can do, and most certainly should be doing, is to activate LiteSpeed’s caching function, known as LSCache. Does that sound too technical? Well, turning on the Automatic Cache option pretty much sums all those technical jargon up. Cached copies of your pages would be created, significantly reducing delivery times to visitors. Static pages, such as business pages, and portfolios, would benefit from this even more.

An SSL Certificate That You May or May Not Be Getting

Hostinger provides a free SSL certificate with all of its plans. You should know that if an SSL isn’t included in your plan, it is possible to purchase one as a separate add-on.  Still, that should not be the case. Everything Is Well Designed, but you will Be Under Constant Attack From Upsell Pop-Ups

Putting it very simple, Hostinger’s user experience experts have designed an awesome interface and user journey, from signup to using and managing your hosting.
