How To Activate The “Pay With Paypal” On Flutterwave

Africa's ecommerce ecosystem has traditionally lacked appropriate payment solutions to satisfy the global demand for seamless transactions, further limiting its contributions to the global digital economy. However, the Flutterwave + PayPal collaboration removes major obstacles that previously prevented African consumers and businesses from taking advantage of cross-border e-commerce's untapped potential.

Flutterwave has revolutionized Africa's payments space by providing individuals and businesses across the continent with scalable, fast, and affordable payment services.

More Africans will be able to accept payments from Flutterwave as a result of its integration with PayPal. Pay with PayPal is now available as a payment option. Here's all you need to know about using the feature as a registered company, person, NGO, or event organizer.

Is it possible for me to use Pay with PayPal as an individual?

Yes, finally. However, the service is currently only available to established and newly registered businesses. Flutterwave has announced that freelancers, event organizers, and non-profit organizations will be able to use the service in the coming weeks.

I'm not sure what I'll need to register?

If you're a new merchant to the platform, you'll need to create an account on the Flutterwave website. You'll be asked to choose the service you'll be using the account for after receiving an email confirmation. As a result, the requested information will be determined by the account's purpose.

Basic criteria for freelancers, sellers, and unregistered businesses include a company name, account number, BVN, form of identification, and address.

The information is the same as for a registered company, but there are additional criteria such as a Tax Identification Number (TIN), business, account number, and website.

Merchants must also upload relevant documents such as their certificate of incorporation and their Memorandum and Articles of Association. At the same time, the customer will have to confirm their ownership stake in the company.

What is the cost of using Pay with PayPal?

Flutterwave normally charges 1.4 percent (local) and 3.8 percent (foreign) of the payments sent, plus a fee of no more than ₦2,000 for each transaction. It costs 4.4 percent of the transaction value plus $0.30 to pay with PayPal.

How do I activate Pay with PayPal?

Tap on ‘Account Settings' on the dashboard to allow payment options to appear on your dashboard.

Scroll down to ‘What methods of payment do you want?' on the same page. Choose ‘Enable PayPal'.

Remember that Pay with PayPal is only available to current and newly registered companies for the time being. Flutterwave has announced that freelancers, event organizers, and non-profit organizations will be able to use the service in the coming weeks.

How does a PayPal customer pay a Flutterwave merchant?

Look for the "Pay with PayPal" option on a Flutterwave merchant's checkout page.

To complete your payment, click the “Pay with PayPal” button and follow the prompts as they redirect you to your PayPal account.

As soon as the payment is verified on the modal, you will be automatically redirected to the merchant's checkout page.

How long would it take to collect payment?

The processing time is determined by the location of the transaction source — local or foreign — according to Flutterwave's current transaction period. It lasts anywhere from one to five days after the transaction is completed. This is likely to be the case while using PayPal.

By creating a Flutterwave payment connection or API integration, you can start receiving payments with PayPal right away.
