Why Should You Calibrate Your iPhone Battery

Calibrating your iPhone battery (also referred to as resetting the battery of an iPhone) is a surprisingly important part of the iPhone maintenance. Unfortunately, many people do not realize its benefits, and even fewer that it takes to carry out the necessary steps.

Without you are using a correctly calibrated battery, you are likely to see an inaccurate and erratic battery percentage readings, a much battery drain, and a much shorter total lifespan for your battery. If your iPhone powers down unexpectedly when your battery life percentage hits a single digit, poor calibration of its battery is almost very likely to be blamed.

Many factors can cause a battery to become incorrectly calibrated. Factors such as software updates, apps running in the background, new features, and even regular day-to-day use can all cause all those discrepancies.

This will help to get to an accurate reading later in the process. After you have reset the battery, you can re-enable all four of these options. It is also worth ensuring that you have not accidentally turned on low-power mode at the Settings > Battery.

How to Calibrate an iPhone Battery

Now that you are ready to calibrate the battery of your iPhone. Be warned that it requires quite a bit of patience; you will need to wait around for a couple of hours to complete the charge/drain cycles.

Luckily, you do not require any third-party tool or application. Anything that you see in the App Store claiming to reset your iPhone battery is at best an unnecessary and at its worst a scam. iPhone battery calibration is very easy to perform without needing extra help.

Step 1: Drain the Battery

The first step to start with is to completely drain your iPhone battery. You can do so your normal usage. If you want to speed up the process, you can play a very long video on YouTube with your volume turned up to the maximum level.

Step 2: Wait Three Hours

You may have noticed that your iPhone will shut down automatically even when the battery has a small percentage left in it. This process is by design; it allows the device to have a chance to save the current state of your running application so you don’t lose any data.

It is very important to let the last embers of the battery life die away. The only way to do that is to wait for a while. Basically, the longer you wait, the better, but you should wait for at least three hours. If you have time, letting it sit overnight is much preferable.

Step 3: Charge Your Device

Now it is time to refill the battery. To make sure that you get the optimal performance, make sure you follow these three tips:

1. Make use of a wall socket rather than charging from a computer.

2. It is advisable to make use of an official Apple charger. At the very least, ensure that you make use of a trusted Lightning cable and not a cheap knockoff.

3. Continue to charge your device for a couple of hours even after your phone shows that the battery is 100 percent full. You need to make sure that you squeeze in every drop of power to make sure that the calibration works correctly.

Step 4: Drain Your Device

Now you would need to repeat the whole process a second time. It is the same drill as done above: Either you use it as you normally would, or you play videos on loop to hasten the process. Also, you need to make sure that you wait for 3 hours again.

Step 6: Charge Your Device

To complete the process, you would need to recharge your device. Follow the same guidelines as earlier, Making sure that you let your phone continue charging for a couple of hours even after it is full.

Finally, you would need to re-enable the services and functions that you turned off earlier. such as location services, background refresh, automatic updates, and automatic screen brightness.
