How to Capture or Record Your Android’s Screen Using a Mac

How to Capture or Record Your Android’s Screen Using a Mac.

Download and Install AndroidTool

Download AndroidTool to your Mac PC. Double-click on the ZIP file to extract the application. Then drag the application file to the Applications folder to install it.

Enable USB Debugging on Your Android Device

To allow your Android device to work together with your Mac, you must turn on USB debugging.

On Android Oreo, go over to your Settings > System > About Phone. If you are running an older version of Android, About Phone or About tablet would be seen directly on the Settings screen.

Tap on the Build number seven times. This would turn on Developer Options, which you will see near the bottom of the screen near the About phone option or About tablet.

Tap on Developer Options and ensure that is is turned ON at the top of the screen. Then, tap on the USB debugging slider button to turn it on.

Run AndroidTool

Run the AndroidTool application. Click Open.

AndroidTool would tell you to turn on USB debugging and plug in your Android device. You would have already turned on USB debugging, so go ahead and plug it in with a USB cable if you have not done that already.

Connect Your Android Device to Your Mac

On your Android device, you will see the Allow USB debugging dialog box.

If you plan on connecting your Android device to That Mac regularly, you can stop that dialog box from displaying. To do that, tap the Always allow from this computer option.

Click OK to accept that you are allowing USB debugging and to connect with your AndroidTool on your Mac.

Take a Screenshot of Your Android Device

Once AndroidTool has successfully been detected on your device, the main application screen comes up showing the brand and model number of your device. You will also see the buttons for capturing a screenshot and for recording videos from your device.

To capture a screenshot from your device, set up whatever you want to capture on your android device. Then click the green camera button that is in AndroidTool.

You will see a notification on the right side of your Mac when your screenshot is ready. The screenshot would open up in Preview mode, or in whichever image viewer app that you set as the default.

By default, AndroidTool creates an AndroidTool folder on your desktop and it would save all screenshots and videos in that folder. This makes it very easy to find the image and video files.

You can change where AndroidTool saves screenshots if you like it.

Record the Screen on Your Android Device

To record a video on your android device, get your device ready to carry out some action. Then click on the video camera icon in AndroidTool.

AndroidTool would start recording anything that you do on your device. Carry out the actions that you want to record.

Click the red stop button that is in AndroidTool when you are done.

You will see a notification on the right-hand side of your Mac PC when your recording is ready. The video opens and plays in Quicktime Player, or in whichever media player app you set as the default on your MAC.

Set AndroidTool Preferences

You can change several settings in AndroidTool to fit your needs.

To do that, go to AndroidTool > Preferences. On the General screen that comes up, you can decide to Select where the AndroidTool saves Screenshots and Screen recordings. If you want the name of each screenshot to also have a short description of what was captured, check the Use current Android activity that is in the filename box.

To create a GIF file for each of the screen recording, in addition to the MP4 file, check the Also create GIF box.

Click on the Status bar that is at the top of the dialog box. Check the Change Android 6.0+ status bar on the screenshots box. Then remember to check the boxes for the items that you want to display or change. For example, you can change the time to a specific time by using the Set time to box. And you can also set the Battery level and choose whether you want it to show as if its  Charging or not.
