How To Change Your Twitch Name

How To Change Your Twitch Name.

Can You Change Your Twitch Name? Yes You Can, But Be Careful

There are so many reasons why you may want to change your Twitch name from what you are already using. Maybe you thought of getting a new name you’d like more, or your current username does not feel like a good fit to you anymore. Twitch makes it very easy to change your username. However, your username can only be changed once every 60 days

You’ll also want to keep this in mind that your followers will have a hard time finding your streams if you have changed your username and when you have already established a goodf following.

How You Can Change Your Twitch Name

1. If you are to change your Twitch username, first be very sure that it’s been at least 60 days, or 2 months, since you’ve last done any changes on your username. If so, you can follow these steps on a computer to change your username.

2. On the homepage, select your profile icon.

3. In the dropdown, select Settings.

4. Under profile, you should scroll down to Profile Settings and then you'll find Username. If it says that You may update your username underneath your current username, then you’ll be able to continue. If not, then you probably have to wait longer.

5. Select the pencil icon that is to the right of your current username. A window will then pop up where you can now type in the new username you want. At the bottom of it, you’ll see where your new Twitch URL will appear that is after you have updated your username.

6. Once you’ve entered your new name, you can now select Update. Your username will then be changed as also will your Twitch URL.

7. Twitch will inform you about the update window that your old username will be transferred back into the large pool of available usernames after six months. This means that if you have decided that if you still want your old username back eventually, you’ll still be able to retrieve it, as your username will not be displayed as available to others right away.

How You Can Change Your Twitch Display Name

While your Twitch username will actually change the URL of your Twitch account and the streams also, you can always change your display name to anything at all you wish without affecting this. This way, if you want to change a name but you don’t want to commit to a full URL change, this is a very good route you can take.

Your display name can be anything you want it to be, and you can always change it anytime you want. Here’s how you can do this instead of changing a username.

1. From the main Twitch homepage, first you click on your profile icon.

2. In the dropdown, then select Settings.

3. Underneath the Profile Settings, which is located under your username, you will see Display Name. The text box there should always be open for you to edit and type.

4. Once you have made this changes to your display name, then you click on the Save Changes button that is located at the bottom of the profile settings box it will light up purple. Select this to enable it save your display name.

5. Whether you are changing your Twitch username or your display name all depends on how drastic of a change you need your Twitch channel to undergo. If you decided that you want to change your username, you’ll have to notify followers of this change so that they can access your correct URL. For you changing your display name removes this hassle.

How You can Change Your Twitch Username on Mobile

If you’re trying to make use of the Twitch app to change your username, this is hard and actually not possible to do. However, if you want to make use of your mobile phone, you can still make use of a browser to do the changes of your Twitch username. You just need to follow the below steps.

1. On your chosen browser, go straight to the Twitch website.

2. If you’re using Firefox or Chrome or as a browser, you can tap on the three dots that is in the corner next to the URL to select to view the desktop site.

On Safari, tap on the three dots that is in the right hand corner across from the Twitch logo. Then tap on Privacy Policy, and scroll all the way down and then tap on About. In the top right-hand corner side, tap on the three white bars and then you tap on the twitch.tv. You should then be taken to the desktop site and then you can follow the next steps.

4. Now on the Twitch homepage, click on your profile icon, and in the menu of the dropdown then select Settings.

5. Under the Profile Settings, select the pencil icon you see next to your current username.

6. In the next window, you can now enter the new username you’d want to use. Once you have done this, select Update and also your username and Twitch URL will change it immediately.
