How to connect a MacBook Pro to a Television
When streaming videos, playing games, or simply having a larger workspace, having the ability to connect your MacBook computer to a television screen is extremely convenient. In the case of a smart TV, the most straightforward method of connecting your MacBook to it is through AirPlay.
Note: Remember to check that both your MacBook and your smart TV are connected to the same network and are both powered on before connecting the two devices together.
1. On your Macbook, go to Settings > Displays and select the appropriate display.
2. Select the option for AirPlay Display from the drop-down menu that appears.
3. The smart TV or other device that will serve as the display for your MacBook should be selected.
4. Depending on your smart TV model, a small window may appear once the connection is established. In order to use your TV as a secondary display for your MacBook, select Gather Windows from the MacBook screen. This will group all of your open windows and allow you to expand your screen. Afterwards, you'll be able to use your television as a second monitor.
5. To mirror the screen of your MacBook to your smart TV, go to Display Settings > Arrangement > Mirror Display.
Following the steps above, select Off in Step 3 when you're finished and want to disconnect the monitor.
Instead, select Screen Mirroring from the Control Center menu bar and then select the television to which you want your screen to be broadcasted from the Control Center. Following the establishment of the connection, you will have the option of mirroring or extending your display. When you're finished, reopen Screen Mirroring and select the name of the TV that was previously connected to disconnect.
