How To Delete PS4 Digital Games And Downloads
However, with all of the initial downloads, saved data, and captured photos and video, it's likely that you'll run out of space before long. Your PlayStation 4 came with a hard drive that appears to be large enough to last indefinitely, but it's likely that you'll run out of space before long. To delete games from your PlayStation 4, follow these steps.
1. From the PS4 home screen, navigate up to the menu options and then to the Settings option on the right.
2. Select Storage from the drop-down menu.
3. A screen will appear, listing all of the hard drives connected to your PS4 as well as the capacities of each of those drives. By pressing the X key, you can choose which drive you want to manage.
Please keep in mind that if your PlayStation 4 is not connected to an external hard drive, the built-in storage will be the only option available on this list.
4. Select the appropriate applications.
5. A list of the games and applications that have been saved on your PlayStation 4 will appear. To remove items from your shopping cart, select Delete from the Options menu.
Note: The files are sorted in ascending order by default, with the largest files appearing at the top. The file size of each file is displayed on the right-hand side of your screen.
6. Selection boxes will appear to the left of each file on the screen. By pressing the X key, you can select the item(s) you want to delete.
7. Delete your selections when you're finished making them on the right-hand side of the screen.
8. To confirm your selection, click OK on the following screen.
Note: Deleting items from the Applications field only removes the installation data associated with the item. It will not remove any of your previously saved data. Essentially, this means that you can reinstall or download a game without losing any of your progress in the game.
9. To return to the Storage menu, press the Circle key. Check that you have an adequate amount of free space by pressing the Enter key. However, if you do not have this option and are unable to locate any additional applications to delete, you can still free up some space in another location on your computer.
10. Select Saved Data from the drop-down menu. The games on the following screen are displayed in the order in which you last played them, with the most recent game at the top of the list. The size of each game's file is indicated next to the title of the game itself.
Note: Your game profiles and progress are among the information that is saved. Remove the data associated with games that you've completed and will not be playing again in order to free up a lot of space on your computer's hard drive.
11. Press the Options key, followed by the X key to select Select Multiple Applications to bring up a menu.
12. Select the files you wish to remove from your computer and press the X key.
13. Once you've made your selections, select Delete > OK to confirm your decision.
14. After you've finished, press the Circle button to return to the Storage menu and double-check that you've freed up all of the necessary space.
15. If more space is required, select Capture Gallery from the dropdown menu.
Please keep in mind that capture data includes screenshots and videos that you save while playing a game, among other things. Among the first items on the following screen is a folder labeled "All," which contains all of the media stored on your system. Additional options include the ability to select specific games.
16. Using the X key, select the All folder from the drop-down menu.
Note: It's worth noting that while we'll be deleting all of the capture data in this set of instructions, the instructions for each game will be similar.
17. Your system's screenshots and video clips will be listed on the next screen, which you can navigate through. To view each type, select either Screenshots or Video Clips from the drop-down menu on the left. Each file contains information about the date it was created, the size of the file, the length of the file (in the case of video clips), and the identity of the user who created it.
18. Select one of the folder's files by dragging your cursor to the right with your mouse and pressing the Options button to bring up a menu.
19. Select the Delete option from the drop-down menu.
20. Selection boxes will appear next to each item on the list. Individual files can be deleted by selecting them one by one, or you can select Select All if you don't want anything saved at all.
21. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
22. On the following screen, click OK to confirm your selection.
23. Click on the Circle button to make sure that enough space has been cleared. If this is the case, it may be necessary to upgrade the storage capacity on your PlayStation 4.
