How to Host a Spotify Group Listening Party on Discord

Discord enables you to arrange a virtual group listening party by using Spotify Premium and the "Listen Along" function to stream your favorite tunes to your pals. Here's how to configure it.

While you may also use Spotify's Group Session function to listen to music with friends, you cannot talk with them and are limited to five friends at a time. Chatting while listening is a breeze on Discord.

To begin, link your Spotify account to Discord

Spotify Premium subscribers can connect their account to Discord and display their listening history in their Discord Status. To begin, open the Discord application on your PC or Mac. Then, in the bottom-right corner, click the gear symbol next to your Discord username.

Click "User Settings" in Discord

When the Settings page displays, in the sidebar, click the "Connections" option.

Select "Connections" in user settings of Discord

Click the Spotify symbol under "Connections."

Discord will open Spotify in a new browser window and prompt you to sign in with your Spotify username and password. After signing in, you'll see proof that your Spotify account is linked to Discord.

Navigate to the Discord application. Locate your associated Spotify account under the "Connections" area and toggle the "Display on profile" toggle. After that, hit the Escape key to exit the "User Settings" page.

Enable the "Display on Profile" option for Spotify in Discord's user settings.

Following that, whenever you listen to music on Spotify, your Discord profile will display the "Listening to Spotify" status on all servers you've created and joined.

Create and Host a Discord Spotify Group Listening Party

Once Spotify is connected to Discord, you may establish a new Discord server or use an existing one to hold a Spotify group listening party. Following that, you'll want to invite friends to Discord and invite them to join your server.

To begin, launch the Spotify app on your computer or mobile device and play any song. Then, in the Discord app, navigate to the music party server. When the plus button displays a green play icon, you're ready to begin the listening party.

To invite the channel to listen to Spotify, click the plus button and select the choice.

Note: Only Spotify Premium account holders are eligible to participate and use the "Listen Along" function. Otherwise, an error will occur and they will be unable to play the songs.

When the "Listen Along Invite" window appears, you can either enter an additional comment or click the "Send Invite" button.

Click "Send Invite."

This invitation link is dynamic, and the song titles will change as long as the music is played.

That is all. When your friends join the stream, you'll see their profile icons in the invite box. Following that, you can change the music or playlists manually to get the party started.
