How to uninstall a Steam game

If you've finished playing a Steam game or have grown tired of it, you can uninstall it from your computer in order to free up some of that valuable storage space on your computer. Using the Steam client or Windows, you can uninstall a Steam game in the same way that you would uninstall any other application.

Uninstalling a Steam game through the Steam client

To uninstall a game using the Steam client, first launch the game and then click the Library tab in the top-left corner of the window that appears.

Then, in the left-hand pane, find the game that you want to uninstall and select it. The text in currently installed games will be bright white, whereas the text in non-currently installed games will be grayish in color.

Right-click on the title of the game in the list to open it in a new window. A context menu will be displayed as a result of this. Hover your cursor over Manage, and then, on the sub-menu, select Uninstall from the list of options. Keep in mind that you can uninstall multiple games at the same time by pressing and holding the Ctrl key while selecting the games. This allows you to remove games from your computer in batches.

A dialog box will appear, asking if you are sure you want to uninstall the game. If you are, click Uninstall. To uninstall, select the blue Uninstall button from the toolbar.

After a few seconds, the game will be successfully uninstalled from your computer.

Uninstalling a Steam game through Windows

Furthermore, you can uninstall a Steam game in the same way that you would uninstall any other application from your Windows device. If you want to do this, go to Start > All Programs > Windows Search, and type Control Panel into the search box that appears.

Then, on the left-hand side of the screen, select Uninstall a Program.

Navigate to and select the game that you wish to uninstall from the list of applications displayed on the following screen. After selecting the game, right-click it and then select Uninstall from the single option available in the context menu that appears.

When the process is complete, a confirmation window will appear. The first step is to confirm that you want to uninstall the app before proceeding.
