How To Use An Image As The Background In PowerPoint

How to Use an Image as the Background in PowerPoint.

What is Powerpoint?

PowerPoint is a slideshow presentation program that is a part of the Microsoft Windows Office suite of software products. PowerPoint makes it very easy to create, collaborate, and present your ideas in a more, visually compelling and dynamic way.

Using an Image as the Background in PowerPoint

If you can not find the slide background that you are looking for in a PowerPoint presentation library, you can use make use of any image of your own choosing. PowerPoint makes this to be possible in just a few simple steps. Here is just how to do that.

A word of caution before you begin. The image that you select would be stretched to fit the slide size. If you make use of an image that is too small, the image would be distorted when used as the background. Be sure that you pick an image that works. High-resolution images are always the best.

When you are ready, open up the PowerPoint presentation that you would like to add a background image to. Once it is open, go over to the “Design” tab.

In the “Customize” group, click on the “Format Background” button.

The “Format Background” panel would come up in the right-hand side of the window. From here, choose “Picture Or Texture Fill” from the “Fill” group.

Once that has been selected, more options will come up below. Under the “Picture Source”, click on the “Insert” button.

The “Insert Pictures” window would come up, giving you three different options for inputting an image into your presentation.

From a File

Selecting this option would bring up the File Explorer window. From here, go to the location of the image that you would like to insert, click on it, and then click on the “Insert” button.

Online Pictures

Choosing this option would bring up an online image search that is powered by Bing. Enter the type of image that you would like to look for in the search bar, or choose a topic below the search bar to open a library of related images. Whichever method that you employ, locate and click on the desired image and click on “Insert”.

From Icons

Choosing this option would bring up the “Insert Icons” window, which has a huge library of available icons. choose the icon that you would like to use as the background and click on the “Insert” button.

Not minding the method that you choose to get the image, once you have clicked on the “Insert”, the image would come up in the background of your presentation.

Finally, it is very important to note that including the background image only takes place on the currently selected slide. If you are wanting to reflect on these changes to the entire slideshow, click on the “Apply To All” option that is at the bottom of the “Format Background” pane. Once it is selected, you will notice that the background has been applied to all the slides in the presentation.
