How to See Wi-Fi Passwords on Android Without Root

Are you thinking of how to show a Wi-Fi password on Android? Maybe you are connected to a network and you forgot the password, or you just want to check the password for a friend's internet so you can connect the other device.
No matter the reason that you want that, we would show you how to easilly view saved Wi-Fi passwords on your Android device by using a few different methods. Note that these only let you see the password for networks you have previously connected to in the past.
Starting from Android 10, you can now see the Wi-Fi passwords for your saved networks without using a rooted device. Let us look at how to do this on regular Android 11 the process might look slightly different depending on your phone and on your android version.
To view a Wi-Fi password on an Android 10 or an older version later, open up the Settings application and go over to Network & internet. Tap on Wi-Fi and you will see your current Wi-Fi network at the top of the list. Select it to view options for the network.
On the page that comes up, click on the Share button. you would need to confirm your face/fingerprint, or to enter your PIN code, to go ahead on. Once you do that, you will see your network's Wi-Fi password listed just below a QR code.
If the password does not come up for some reason, you can scan the QR code on another device to add it to the network.
How to See Wi-Fi Passwords on Android 9 and Older
If you are running an Android 9 device or earlier, or your phone does not have the above option, you will need to turn to other methods to display your Wi-Fi password. Unfortunately, these methods would all require a rooted Android device.
This is because the file that keeps the Wi-Fi credentials for the saved networks is in a protected directory of your device storage. You do not have permission to view the folder or the file that is in it unless your device is rooted.
If your are rooted, you can go ahead to /data/misc/wifi using a file explorer app that supports browsing of your root folder. Open wpa_supplicant.conf and you should see your network name (ssid) and its corresponding password (psk).
In case this does not work, or you want to try another method, you can just try using an Android Wi-Fi password viewer application like WiFi Password Viewer. These let you select a saved network to view the password.
All the applications above require root to work, and have mixed reviews, so your ussage may vary. If your phone encrypts the file that holds Wi-Fi passwords, there's not much that the app can do.
