Martin Technologies Unveils Its New "eSPDM" Smart Wiring Technology

Existing wire harness technology requires approximately 12,000 feet of wire, which accounts for 20% of the total cost of the vehicle. Conventional harnesses are large, cumbersome, and come with significant warranty costs.

MARTIN eSPDM is a smart wire harness technology comprised of intelligent electronic power distribution modules that operate all electrical components in a vehicle via an adaptive electric current network. The eSPDM is a cutting-edge solution for conventional, electric, and autonomous vehicles.

The benefits of eSPDM include a reduction of up to 90% in wiring content, a lower harness cost per vehicle, and significant mass reduction, which results in lower greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. Additionally, a patented fire-prevention algorithm, over-the-air reconfigurability, self-diagnostics, EMI noise reduction, and preventive maintenance are included as state-of-the-art features.

Among the applications for MARTIN Technologies' new eSPDM are the following:

  • Military Automobiles
  • Vehicles for First Responders
  • Vessels Maritime
  • Aeronautical Vehicles
  • VTOL/Drones
  • AGV/Robotics
  • Motorcycles
  • Stationary Electricity
  • Vehicles for Industrial Use
  • Anything That Is Connected Via A Wiring Harness

Harold Martin, CEO of MARTIN Technologies, stated "We look forward to introducing our new technology and allowing prominent customers to explore the numerous features included in this new disruptive technology. The mobility industry has advanced in numerous segments, and the timing for the introduction of our eSPDM Smart Wiring system could not be better. The Stellantis Matchmaker event provides us with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our new eSPDM technology. We've progressed from functional prototypes to comprehensive engineering, testing, and validation programs that adhere to the OEM's stringent standards. The MARTIN team is proceeding with the project based on early interest from Mobility OEMs requesting a MY 2023 production launch."

The President, Brian Jones, stated "We are also pleased to announce that MARTIN has signed a development agreement for several new technologies, including the Smart Wiring Harness system, for use in Volcon ePowersports' four-wheel product line."

The Chief Technology Officer, Michael Van Steenburg, added "We will continue to grow in mobility technologies and will do so by exceeding goals and recognizing our valued partners. Our ongoing innovation in new technology and our people are our strength as we continue to build the world's best products and teams. Several additional new technology announcements are on the way for the EV/AV mobility market."
