Meet Raghu Raghuram who becomes VMware CEO after 17 years at the company
VMware, an American cloud computing company, has named Raghu Raghuram as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors member. Raghu will take over as CEO on June 1, 2021, succeeding interim CEO Zane Rowe.
Raghu's appointment comes five months after VMware announced Pal Gelsinger would step down as CEO after eight years to become the new CEO of Intel.
“I am overjoyed to see Raghu take the helm of VMware as CEO. Throughout his career, he has led with integrity and conviction, contributing significantly to VMware's success” VMware's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Michael Dell
Raghu's new role will include planning VMware's strategic direction and assisting customers and partners in accelerating their digital businesses in the multi-cloud computing era.
VMware is on track to become a stand-alone public company following Dell's announcement that it will spin off an 81 percent stake in the company in a deal worth an estimated $9.7 billion. Nonetheless, VMware is positioned to lead the multi-cloud computing era with its end-to-end software platform that spans clouds and data centers.
