Opera Mini now includes the messaging platform Hype for customers on data-limited plans

In addition to adding Hype, a new messaging service, to its brand portfolio, Opera Mini, the popular mobile and desktop browser, is expanding its brand portfolio. Opera Mini browsers now include the new messaging platform, which allows users to do more with their mobile devices than just browse the web.

As part of its mission to revolutionize mobile browsers, the company has created Hype, a dedicated chat service that allows users to communicate, surf, and share all within a single application.

According to the company, this is the first time a messaging solution with African influences has been integrated into a mobile browser. Customers benefit from the secure end-to-end encryption, which allows them to quickly create an account, meet new friends from all over Africa, network, and communicate in real time.

"Hype is an innovative instant messaging service from Opera, designed specifically for the new generation of African internet users with the goal of elevating and engaging the traditional browsing experience. It is available in English and French. Nigerians can now benefit from a browsing and chatting ecosystem that is tailored to their needs thanks to Opera Mini and a Hype account, according to the company."

Jrgen Arnesen, Opera's Executive Vice President of Mobile Browsers, stated.

According to the founder, "Hype is the world's first African-inspired chat service, bringing cultures from Sub-Saharan Africa together with mobile technology."

People in the younger generation who use the internet expect their mobile browsers to be able to do more than just browse the web. It was this concept that, according to the company, inspired it to generate interest in the idea of enabling social connectivity through a browser app that users already have on their devices.

Because of this integration, opera mini becomes the world's first major browser to include a social component that allows users to stay connected with the people who matter the most to them on the internet. The combination of these two unique features is currently unavailable on any other smartphone.

In Anglophone African countries, according to the company, its new chatting functionality is gaining traction, with close to 2.4 million activations to date.

Opera's new "Find New Friends" feature, which was introduced in the most recent version of the app, is a groundbreaking step forward in enabling users to meet new people and connect with interesting people on a more personal level.

What about the Hype

Given the increasing popularity of social messaging services such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and WeChat, it would be difficult for Opera Mini's Hype to establish a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

It claims that its solution is unique in that it incorporates both browsing and chat functionality into one application, which it claims is the first of its kind.

Users of Opera Mini, which is well-known for its data compression capabilities, will be able to chat with friends and family without incurring excessive data consumption, according to the company.

What it does and how it works

Click on the Hype logo in the bottom-right corner of the opera mini app or go to the O menu in order to start the process. Users must enter their phone numbers and verify their identities by entering a one-time password that will be sent to their phones after entering their information.

Users can then personalize their profile image by adding a name and a personalized photo, which will be visible to other Hype members when they visit their page. Finally, Hype integrates with your phone contacts, enabling you to connect with other Hype users.
