Reviews And Expert Opinion of SmartWeb
OVERVIEW
Smart Web Nigeria Limited was born in 2004 to give people an easy and affordable way to get their ideas online. These days, having an online presence is not just a privilege, it is in fact, a necessity. We believe that it a basic right. But sometimes it is usually expensive to have a web presence, Smart Web came into the picture to help Africans build their web presence by providing affordable domain registration, web hosting and cloud services, Their services are currently used by over 100,000 sites, blogs, and applications, and supports more than 20,000 web designers, developers, content creators, small businesses and entrepreneurs.
SmartWeb is an African web hosting provider that is based on Linux cPanel shared and reseller web hosting. They employ SSDs that deliver up to 20 times faster performance than regular hard disk drives. At the moment, SmartWeb is only available in the English language.
Features and Ease of Use
SmartWeb is fully dedicated to delivering exceptional web hosting services that are very easy to use even for beginners. Their cPanel offers the following hosting packages features:
- Free website builder
- CloudLinux OS for better security, reliability, and efficiency
- Unlimited MySQL databases
- Unlimited bandwidth
- One-click installer with over 200 apps ready
- Virus and malware scanning
- Free SSL certificates
- Anti-spam filtering
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Unlimited subdomains
The entry-level of Smart Web shared hosting plan starts you out with a 2GB SSD storage and a single hosted domain. This does not come with free domain registration, instead, you will have to purchase at least their Standard plan for that. With every level up, you get more storage space and the ability to host more domains on one account.
SmartWeb also has support for reseller hosting featuring cPanel and WHM white-label packages. With each package, you can give your customers the use of their free website builder, SSL certificates, one-click application installer for software such as WordPress, and all the other great features available in their shared hosting. The basic reseller hosting plan affords you the use of 20 cPanel accounts; thereafter, there is no cap on the number of cPanel accounts you get (only the SSD storage space).
Pricing and Support
The three shared hosting plans of SmartWeb’s are named Value, Standard, and Business. Each of those plans is reasonably priced and all come with unlimited bandwidth, though they are not the cheapest options that are available in the market.
What’s more, SmartWeb has simplified the process of moving from one hosting plan to another; there are no contracts to tie you down, neither are there any extra fees charged to change your plan. You can unlock premium features with a few clicks of your mouse, or downgrade to a cheaper package just as easily.
One notable downside of SmartWeb is the fact that their live chat is not always available 24/7. Given how popular live chats have become in the web hosting space, this limitation is very sad. That said, the company is very active on social media and frequently chats with their customers there. In addition, their support ticket is great: they are highly responsive and helpful. They do not appear to have any telephone support.
Uptime & Reliability
This is a company that only provides shared hosting and they seem to do a good job with it. Smart Web has a 99.9% uptime guarantee and judging by reviews online, they do not seams to have any issues meeting that uptime mark. They also allocate you server resources for your hosting, which is way much like a VPS, and that helps to provide a more stable environment.
Easy to Understand Hosting
When you go to the hosting page you would see that they offer four different options, each option has a very clear list of features. The entry-level option gives you 2 GB of disk space, 20 MySQL databases, 20 email accounts, free setup, daily backups, and cPanel. For the highest-end plan, you get 30 gigs of disk space and everything else is unlimited which is nice. All of their packages have unlimited bandwidth.
Good Tech Support
Their tech support teams are there to support you 24/7 through their support ticket system. They also offer nice video tutorials for learning how to do things and properly setting up your site properly. Their knowledge base also contains a lot of useful information that can help people get going on the web.
Summary
In overall, this is a very nice shared hosting company. They are not for high-end sites or anything, but if you just want to run a site without any trouble, they can reach up to your requirements. Most people would be very happy with the level of service they provide, especially if there is no need to upgrade to a higher-end hosting platform in the future.
