The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will receive an OxygenOS 11.0.8.8 update

The OxygenOS 11.0.8.8 update is now available for the OnePlus 8 series, which includes the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. In the European market, it is currently being rolled out to users in phases. The Indian and North American markets will receive it in the near future. The update includes improvements for the OnePlus Buds Pro, the always-on display (AOD), the camera, and other features. The Android security patch for August 2021 is included in the package with the update. As is customary with OnePlus updates, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will receive the update in stages.

OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro update changelog

OnePlus has detailed the update on its community forum, stating that it will be bringing a few major changes to the OnePlus 8 (Review) and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones (Review). These enhancements include optimizations as well as newly added features for the OnePlus Buds Pro, which were released just a few weeks ago. In addition, the update corrects a problem with navigation gestures that occurred in certain circumstances. It has also received improvements to the system's stability as well as other bug fixes.

The front-facing camera has also been upgraded with an improved Portrait mode effect. A new OnePlus Store app will be available for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, as well. Notably, users have the option of uninstalling the newly installed application if they so desire.

The AOD has also received some significant improvements as a result of the update. Taking a screenshot of their AOD and sharing it will now be possible for users. In addition, the Bitmoji AOD — which was developed in collaboration with Snapchat — will be available on the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Users will be able to add their Bitmoji avatar to their AOD as of right now. The avatar will be constantly updated in response to the user's activity and the environment in which they are located. Navigate to Settings > Customization > Clock on ambient display and select Bitmoji from the drop-down menu.

The firmware version for the OnePlus 8 update in India, Europe, and North America is 11.0.8.8.IN21DA, 11.0.8.8.IN21BA, and 11.0.8.8.IN21AA, respectively. The firmware version for the update in North America is 11.0.8.8.IN21AA. In India, Europe, and North America, the OnePlus 8 Pro will receive the firmware versions 11.0.8.8.IN11DA, 11.0.8.8.IN11BA, and 11.0.8.8.IN11AA, respectively. As previously stated, the update will be rolled out to both OnePlus smartphones in Europe first, with subsequent rollouts to India and North America.

The most recent Android security patch, dated August 2021, is included with the update. The size of the update has not been specified by OnePlus. The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones should still be updated while they are connected to a strong Wi-Fi network and are fully charged, according to the company. The update is expected to be released in stages and should be available to all eligible smartphones via automatic download and installation over the air. Alternatively, go to Settings > System > System updates to manually check for the update.
