Policymakers are urged to proactively address AI-induced inequality by establishing comprehensive social safety nets and offering retraining programs for vulnerable workers.

The IMF has introduced an AI Preparedness Index, evaluating countries' readiness for AI adoption in areas such as digital infrastructure, human capital, innovation, and regulation. Wealthier economies tend to be better equipped for AI adoption, and the index guides advanced economies to prioritize innovation and regulatory frameworks. For emerging markets, the focus should be on investments in digital infrastructure and a digitally competent workforce.
