Solution

You can get rid of this QuickBooks error by applying the method listed underneath-

Solution- Recreate the .tlg & .nd files and register them using the Database Server Manager

QuickBooks can develop issues while running if its program files are damaged or missing from the computer. The transaction log (.tlg) file is used to store the transactions that occur in the software, whereas the network descriptor file is responsible for recognizing the systems and initiating a multi-user network. If any of these files gets damaged, the multi-user network will face a direct impact, and you’ll not be able to access or host your company file. You can recreate the program files by using the steps provided below-

  1. Open the QuickBooks folder located in the C: drive of your system.
  2. There will be files with the same name as your company file and extension .tlg & .nd.
  3. Right-click on either of the files and select Rename.
  4. Add ‘.old’ at the end of the file name and repeat these steps to rename the other file too.
  5. Save the files after the names are changed.

You don’t need to worry, as these files will be recreated once QuickBooks runs. You must register these files on the network with the help of the Database Server Manager as mentioned in the steps-

  1. Open the Database Server Manager using the Network issues option in the QB tool hub or the search panel on the taskbar.
  2. Go to the Scan folders tab and tap Browse to select the QB folder you recently made the adjustments in.
  3. Click on Start scan and wait until the files are registered.
  4. Reopen QuickBooks and try accessing the company files again.

The error will be fixed, and you’ll be able to work on your company file data now.
